Teering (Sprint Series) 20:43 [5] *** 4.05 km (5:07 / km) +100m 4:33 / km
spiked:15/16c shoes: ASICS Gel Evolution 4

Macquarie Uni. Ran OK, achilles/cold didn't really affect the run. However very slow up the hills to 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 16. Got the straight line route to 4 which many didn't. Stopped early on 9 (-15 seconds) and didn't see the path through the green at 15-16 (-20 seconds). Other than that a good consistent run.
GPS has 9 minutes of prelude due to a couple of small girls playing with it. PS Welcome back - this is the GPS I thought I lost last year which we found yesterday in the foldup seat pocket.

Newcastle MTBO at Wakefield. 54 points. Very untidy - lost 2 minutes straight away as I couldn't interpret the map and came back to the start paddock. Went past 2 controls on the track and doubled back - 2:30 lost there. Then had a couple of goes at 1J but didn't get the right track so just continued on (-1:30). The worst was yet to come - passed another control on the track, this time while I was pushing the bike up a steep hill. Got to the top before I worked it out - 3 minutes. Reasonably efficient route in getting all the 3 and 2 pointers. Missed 11 of the 1 pointers, 7 of those near the Start/Finish. With the 10 minute mistake time loss probably could have got those at least.

Glebe (Rozelle Bay). Better. 480 points. Got in with 15 seconds to spare, so timed it well. Apparently it was OK to cross the canal/creek, but I didn't and in fact I went to the longer bridge, so wasted a bit of time there. Stopped at pedestrian lights for over a minute on Johnston Road and caught out by the offset streets later. Wasn't concentrating and was thrown by the street ending in a T junction instead of straight through as shown on the map. So ran past the correct (offset) junction. Turned back after 100m. All combined, maybe I could have got the NW loop of 60 points?? or maybe the out and back no. 26 from the Start-Finish for an extra 30?
