Big Foot Sprints, Lapstone, qualifier. With a total of 40km run or orienteered in the last 6 months (200m per day) this was always going to be a question of trying to settle in with no mistakes. The cold was present, but improved, so breathing probably up to about 90% capacity.
As it happened most other people were either sick or injured as well, so ended up with a decent place (7th), after all went according to plan - no significant mistakes.
Amazingly, AP reckons that is my highest scoring run since Big Foot Sprints 13 two years ago. Maybe fitness and health are over-rated.

Big Foot Sprints 15, Final, Darks Common Lapstone. Okm 2.9. GPS switched off just before the start and didn't get it going till after no. 2.

Started pretty quick and saw Tracy in the vicinity of no. 1, but didn't see her punch. Then she went off in a strange direction and I thought she had missed it.
Headed for no. 2 and caught sight of Andy leaving the area, however I didn't see the control and misread that it was on the track, not on the veg change beside it, losing 10-15 seconds.
Saw Andy again after running the wrong way around the tracks to 3 (he was off to 4) and again leaving the pivot control after he went through green, while I went around.
Surprisingly was able to close the gap on the way to 6. Turned early off the track in case Andy was too far north, but he was right on it. Andy (4th) got away a little heading to 7 and for the third time in 7 controls I didn't see the person just ahead of me punch. So I thought Andy had missed 7 and was going back to it from 8, when in fact he was on his way to 9.
More surprisingly I caught back up to Andy after the last visit to the pivot, arriving at no. 10 only 11 seconds down.
Now however came the climb and my lack of fitness told. Together with an unmapped (?) track on the way to 11 (-20 seconds), failure to get the bitumen road choice to 13 (-20 to 25 seconds) and a dither at 16 (-10 seconds) Andy ended up getting nearly two minutes on me before the end. And I nearly got caught by Tracy and Toby, but luckily didn't see them.
