smt. Awesome group with a lot of usual suspects but DoubleDown and Morgan (BCImport) as well.
About 60% crow now, feeling much better, but no grunt on the hills. Thought I would have to pull the plug early, so ran a but with the breakaway group for a bit, then recovered enough to join the main posse after a short cut.
Kinda sad to see all the snow almost gone, especially after being out of action when it was at its peak awesome-ness, it was pretty nice to be running comfortably in t-shirt and shorts.

Climbing 30:00 [2]

Inaugural FNH with D-Bag and Ted. Warm up then 3x5.6, 2x5.7. Forearms pooched. Should have tackled a 5.8 but plenty of time for that.

TNT - Winter Rally.
Starting to feel like I'm on an upswing - I feel like I could hear some crows cawing in the distance. But, not there yet, a pretty terrible time even given the crusty ice that was all over the place and all the hills were deathtraps.
Fun though - lots of ARXers and others out. Nice to have so many to run with.

TNT. 6x pumphouse loops with cardiac extension every second loop.
Well, the plague is slowly leaving my body - no need to sleep 14 hours a day anymore, no fever and appetite for 3 meals a day is back. Just lungs full of funky crap now which is still holding me back.

Note

I didn't realise it when we got there today, but I'd run on todays map before - for the Turkey Trot 2010. It was my first experience with Southern Ontario orienteering.
Back then, I hated it. It was all raspberry and poison ivy off trail and the map seemed really bad. Think I wrote something douchy about how I'd never go back in my log.
What I can't get over is today how much I enjoyed the forest, was generally open woods apart from some deadfall but I also had no problem reading the map (the area around #5 was the only one I thought could do with a tweak). I honestly didn't realise it was the same area until we ran around the lake at #6 and #7.
I'm glad I forgot that this was the same area, cause I probably wouldn't have come if I'd put 2 and 2 together.
So, to summarise - end of summer orienteering=bad in Ontario, winter=awesome.

Orienteering race 1:15:00 [4] 12.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

TOC O-Cup race #3 out at Eldred King Forest.
Perfect conditions today, hard packed trails for speed, just enough snow off trail for it to be fun without being too tough and big fat flakes falling all through the race. Glad I made the trip out.
Don't think I did anything wrong today, just working with 3 gears at the moment. Had a good head to head with Eugene at the end (he knew the sweet spot to get down to the lake at #7) and really had my work cut out for me chasing down Animal-O to the penultimate control - I was just really lucky she had to check a control that wasn't ours on the way ;)

v. impressed with Sarah's first race, I passed her at #5 and she didn't finish far behind. I think she may already be in front of Dr. PBV, Duane and menzies on the O-Cup rankings... burn. Now she needs an AP handle.

Climbing 30:00 [1]

Learning to belay. Got to climb lots of easy climbs, then the instructor made us jump up to a 5.7. I was already pooched but got half way up - Macca destroyed and shamed to boys.
Impressed to see self-claimed heights babies Hammer and Trav dominate the wall. Trav's spidermanning is a sight to behold.
