5 Peaks race at Rattlesnake. Great to be part of Team Attackpoint! We managed second place and didn't even have matching tops like the winning team - that's how we'll get them next time.
Good race for my first one back. Really feeling the lack of speed work in recent weeks.
Far too fast at the start, got caught up in the 5km race frenzy and trying to get away from some dude talking about maaarshmellows. Settled down once we got into the canyon and was comfortably in 7th pace with the eminent Hansel in sight. Almost went off course around 5k, but some Japanese tourists pointed me in the right direction.
There was a dude breathing down my neck with 2km to go and I managed to hold him off thanks to the super technical final section, but once we hit the wider trail in the final section he flew past me.
Calf held up to the final test, so all is well there. Happy with the performance, though I hope to pick up some more speed over the next month in time for SS.
Also super impressed with the course design, variety from graded wide trail to super gnarly limestone jungle. Really enjoyed the loop around the 5km mark and all the crevice jumping we had to do at the end.

Check out the trails and map at Iroquois Heights for ARK. Unfortunately a bit more raspberry than last year and the nettles are have come out earlier which will make things tricky. Bonus is there's more trails opening up some areas we haven't been into before.
Shame the map was updated by someone with no patience. A skilled mapper could turn this into a good training area for middles - lots of distinct vegetation changes and a complex trail network.

Devious trails before ARK, all by myself - not a soul to be seen. Feeling good, no leg worries - so it's just now Saturdays race as a test.

In true Angel fashion, the rain began.... at 7:32pm!

Loop of Christie before the schools race. Calf happy. Me tentatively happy.
HR a little high for such an easy pace though. Actually, that's faster than I usually do an easy run, so no wonder the HR was up a little!

Really fun, rewarding day. My little part of the Schools race went off without a hitch, very satisfying seeing lots of names I know at the top of the results list, another great night at ARK and good discussion for the next stage of the program for our more motivated kids.

menzies loop with P.
Calf tester - yes, so far so good. Kept imagining little niggles become big ones in there - all in the head.
Will do longer flat run tomorrow (if I can squeeze it in!) and see how that goes.

Calf is feeling much better, so I was keen to go on a tester run when Dr. PBV suggested it today. Unfortunately, everyone went princess cause it was too cold - so I decided to follow suit. Figure another day off can't hurt.

Tried out a whole whack of new stuff tonight - have been doing some research and will try out some new core for ARK over the coming weeks. The little stream at Fireman's will get well used with lots of jumping type exercises.
