Note

101 kids already signed up for Spring ARK, which still doesn't start for a month! Thursday already has more kids registered than last Autumn - must be the Power of Angels.
Also, registration accepted for NYC marathon.
8 AM

Running - Trail 1:57:51 intensity: (1:29 @1) + (29:35 @2) + (1:05:39 @3) + (18:36 @4) + (2:32 @5) 17.62 km (6:41 / km) +413m 5:59 / km
ahr:137 max:176 shoes: Inov8 BareGrip 200

Proper length, non-princess only, smt. Just Bender, Trix and myself, with the whole Deeve to ourselves with a fresh dusting of snow.
Felt OK, considering the usual not enough hours of sleep for a Saturday and a lackluster week in general.
Think I'm going to replace the Trix Tempo at the end of smt with a Terrain Tempo, starting coming off K2 all the way to Canterbury Falls. Granted it's a little bit of a cheat with a lot of downhill, but I think it'll be more fun.
1 PM

Core & Strength 10:00 [1]

Hard Core. Will feel it tomorrow.

3 PM

Running - Trail 57:05 intensity: (10:53 @1) + (15:53 @2) + (13:54 @3) + (15:17 @4) + (1:08 @5) 5.45 km (10:28 / km) +108m 9:31 / km
ahr:128 max:173 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Short run with Trix out to Canterbury to collect the witches hats and flags we couldn't find.
Followed by 5 laps of the Hottage punch-a-palooza loop.

Love it.
New short term goal - learn to punch as fluidly as Girly and P-epic. And fall over less.

4 PM

Running - Terrain 42:27 [2] 6.24 km (6:48 / km) +217m 5:48 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Easy cruise with Trix before TNT.
Was feeling like I'm getting a head cold before I started, but I think I'm just really tired at the moment.
Bit of a slush fest out there, but at least it wasn't raining. I don't know why I thought it would be - never rains on Thursday.

Running - Trail 57:47 intensity: (5:51 @1) + (25:09 @2) + (22:25 @3) + (4:21 @4) + (1 @5) 7.49 km (7:43 / km) +120m 7:08 / km
ahr:125 max:167 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

ARK Attack loop flag hanging + 45 mins super easy cruise.
Nice to be reminded how sucky it is to run in slippery, nearly slush snow.
Feeling OK, surprisingly good on the hills considering. Tomorrow will be the big tester.

Running - Trail intervals 1:31:29 intensity: (25:14 @1) + (27:57 @2) + (23:05 @3) + (14:22 @4) + (51 @5) 14.14 km (6:28 / km) +240m 5:58 / km
ahr:119 max:168 shoes: Inov8 F-Lite 230

TNT. Aberdeens, 1,2,1,2,1. Sprint Camp + 4 hours sleep + 5 hours flying = nothing to give, so I just did bits and pieces that I could.
5xDonatos after. Fun to finally do a TNT in the snow again.

10 AM

Orienteering race 13:32 intensity: (8 @1) + (3 @2) + (24 @3) + (6:42 @4) + (6:15 @5) 3.04 km (4:27 / km) +14m 4:21 / km

Sprint Camp Round 8
Chase Setup at UVic
Plan was to have a tempo paced, steady run to put me in good steed for the Chase without killing myself. Unfortunately made a few small map interpretation errors and/or everyone else went flat out and ended up 90 seconds back on the leaders, which was never going to be recoverable with the quality up the top :(
Still, really good course from Louise and a cool campus map.
12 PM

Orienteering race 17:02 intensity: (4 @1) + (8 @2) + (14 @3) + (2:53 @4) + (13:43 @5) 3.59 km (4:45 / km) +109m 4:07 / km
ahr:173 max:188 shoes: Adidas Adizero

Sprint Camp Round 9
Chase at UVic
A hilarious disaster. Frantic start meant no time to get the map in the bag or descriptions in the holder and ran the whole race with the compass in my pocket.
Clusters of dudes coalescing and separating at a high rate and the squirelly 13-14-15 was an abomination and embarrassment for all involved. Fortunately I had the headcam going, so all the guilty parties will be named and shamed.
Fun times and happy with being able to pull out sub 3 min/ks at the end after 9 sprints! Also somehow gained a place overall!
2 PM

Orienteering race 14:54 intensity: (51 @3) + (5:23 @4) + (8:40 @5) 2.9 km (5:08 / km) +22m 4:57 / km
ahr:165 max:195 shoes: Adidas Adizero

Sprint Camp Round 10
Bonus SI Timed Race at another Camosun Campus.
Control picking, 28 controls on 1:3000
Really well made map - everything was there. Tried to push it (as much as possible after 9 races!) and keep reading ahead, exiting well etc.
A few hesitations and one sub par route, but happy with how I finished the camp off.

Thanks to the GVOC workhorses. Stellar. Can you all please move to Toronto?
