Running 29:50 intensity: (48 @1) + (13:44 @2) + (12:39 @3) + (2:39 @4) 5.13 km (5:49 / km) +100m 5:18 / km

Morning escarpment jaunt at the request of the T-Dog. Avid gps viewers will not the required ascent of K2 was completed - Canadian style up, Swedish style down.
Warmest -7 run yet. Surprisingly quite a few people out on the trails for Christmas Day - I'm impressed.
Took the camera out for a few White Christmas photos, it didn't seem to like the cold though. Trix provided a lot of amusement whilst I was standing still fiddling with the camera.

Running 1:16:42 intensity: (5 @1) + (8:13 @2) + (35:58 @3) + (27:39 @4) + (4:47 @5) 12.29 km (6:14 / km) +230m 5:42 / km

FMT with an epic crew. There were Christmas miracles flying all over the place, firstly with prodigal son Super returning to the fold, but the main event was the healing of hammers knees by the flying spaghetti monster - seeing him attempt K2 was greater than any present we could have asked for. Praise FSM.

Hills at Chedoke.
Earlier this year I remember professing envy on someones log as they'd worked so hard in a session they'd made themselves throw up and I'd never been able to. Well, I don't need to be envious any more.
Plan was to do a shorter than usual session as I was by myself; 2 x Lowry, 5 x Nancy, 1 x Bannistairs.
Lowry was a bit icy and I slipped around on the first ascent, so was surprised to do it in 1:49, as we did them in about 2:20 last time. Dodged the ice patches on the second one and got up there in 1:40 - it was tough, but I was feeling good doing them, so I decided for one more. That was a mistake - half way through started breathing really heavily and my quads felt like mush. By the time I got to the top I doubled over and started retching.
I suspect I didn't eat enough today (given how little came out), only had a small lunch very early in the day and was being uncharacteristically productive in the afternoon and didn't snack on anything like I usually do.
A whole pizza seems to have restored balance to the force. Note to self, eat more food. Never thought I'd have to say that!

Running 54:19 intensity: (51 @1) + (4:37 @2) + (43:46 @3) + (5:05 @4) 10.0 km (5:26 / km) +150m 5:03 / km

Easy run in the sun. Straight out to Mac and onto the South Shore trail.
Pushed a bit harder on the gnarlier sections of the trail to get the HR above 'slovenly'.
Got to the end of Sassafras Point and decided to to a loop around Cockpit Island since you could get there now it's iced over. Was pretty fun running on the ice, so stayed down there and ran back along the edge of Cootes.
Tried to spell my name with the Garmin, but was a bit of a fail. Got the shape of the letters OK, but the P and a were on top of each other!
4 PM

Core & Strength 10:00 [1]

Mid run, whilst on the lake. Core become EpiCore when done on a slab of ice.

Running tempo 45:53 intensity: (18 @1) + (8:29 @2) + (18:39 @3) + (17:55 @4) + (32 @5) 10.0 km (4:35 / km) +50m 4:29 / km
ahr:141 max:167 shoes: 2010.2 Triumphs

TAT. 2x3km at tempo pace. A bit weak by normal TNT standards, but if you add the monumental effort it took just to get out the door and get it done it kind of balances out.
Not enough of a warm up and spent most of the first one getting up to the right HR, but the second flew by in a haze of endorphins.
Out and back along the foreshore bike path. Bit chilly by the water, but not painfully so. Times were:
12:07 (149/158)
11:29 (159/167)

Core & Strength 10:00 [1]

Attempted the no hands plank. Think I pulled it off.

Note

I think I've watched all of these now, but this one is by far my favourite

The cyclist sounds strikingly familiar to someone I know back home.

Running 1:19:56 intensity: (6:49 @1) + (37:47 @2) + (34:20 @3) + (1:00 @4) 12.93 km (6:11 / km) +200m 5:44 / km
ahr:126 max:157 shoes: Montrails

Checking all the checkpoints for AR365 to make sure the posts are all there and the codes match.
A few slightly misplaced circles and one on a closed trail that'll have to be moved. Did the contractually obliged climb of K2. Not the most enjoyable part of the run, but the descent in soft snow more than made up for it - like running downhill on cushions!
Spotted Ray out there - just can't get away from GHO lackey's watching over me ;)

Sprint Camp flights booked! Looking forward experiencing a balmy Vancouver winter for a couple of days...
12 PM

Running 1:22:12 intensity: (9:01 @1) + (37:36 @2) + (32:14 @3) + (3:21 @4) 13.68 km (6:00 / km) +200m 5:36 / km
ahr:125 max:158 shoes: Montrails

Awesome cruisy 'real' round the bay loop with turbo, Sudden, Zoolander and Greta. A light dusting of snow overnight made everything look nice and fresh, but it was surprisingly warm - I felt overdressed with 3 layers.
First time on the North Shore trails - was a bit unsure of them at first when Sudden led us through a whole boatload of prickles and had us on literal thin ice at one point, but once we were on the sign posted trails it was smooth sailing.
Picked up some Gore-Tex socks from MEC yesterday - they are awesome. Even after my shoes got soaked in the thin ice section, for the first time in weeks my toes didn't go numb! I love MEC.
