Running 36:51 [3] 7.94 km (4:38 / km) +105m 4:21 / km
ahr:144 max:160 shoes: Triumphs v2.0

Have decided it's just jet lag, have been feeling better each day around 2pm (9am AU time), so just have to suck it up and deal with it.
Slightly longer jaunt today, have been a bit too nervous to go any further after I got some advice that areas can go from nice to dodgy within a block around here.
Headed south to an area called West Adams, which is home to a lot of the oldest houses in LA that have stayed in their original condition. Was a good tip, lots of really cool houses, though I only skirted the edge of the district.
The best part, was as I finished near a mall I was picking up some food from, a Laker girls walks round the corner in full Laker Girl uniform/gear/whatever you want to call it. Not sure if it was an actual one or just some wannabe, but she was hot enough to be one so I'm calling it a win.
This comes from a good day of spotting, was down at Venice Beach and came across some midgets who own Pit Bulls reality show being filmed and then a scene from NCIS LA, which had Chris O' Donnell and this chick in it.

Note
(sick)

Not sure what it is, jet lag, something from the flight or running myself to death on Sunday, but woke up feeling fairly shite today. Hopefully it's not early onset of acute ryanitis.
Had planned to go for a run in Griffiths Park, but could barely manage a walk around it instead.
Saw a sign when I left to watch out for rattlesnakes and cougars (I imagine they meant the cat kind).

ahr:146 max:155 shoes: Triumphs v2.0

6 hrs+ of walking today, so just a bit of a loosener round the burbs near where I'm staying in LA.
Didn't venture too far from where I was staying as TV and movies has taught me there a lot's of drive by shooting and other gang related activity in LA.
Thank god for TV.

Note

Landed... and it's still Monday!
So much about the states I'd forgotten about. It has a smell, or at least some sort of scent memory has been activated. Supermarkets in other countries are always fun.
And lets not forget the broadband - Skins Season 4 should be downloaded within an hour or two! Noice one!

General thoughtitude

Best overall Easter result (though only the 2nd I've run as elite) of 14th. But none of the individual days results were anything to get excited about; 17th, 19th, 18th, 12th.

The Buckenderra results are disappointing, but I think are connected to whatever is ailing me now. Originally I thought it was just an extended hangover, but had been feeling sub par from about Wednesday onwards now I think about it.

Things to fix;
distractions, most major mistakes this week were connected to the presence of other competitors. I should know better.

General orienteering speed. I can run a lot faster now, but it doesn't seem to be translating to improved m/kms during races. Case in point, the fact that my 2nd part of Day 2 was significantly faster once Jim caught me. I'd imagine I'd run faster than Jim on a track at the moment, so why did he have to show me the way at Kowen?
I imagine the best way to improve that would be to do more work in terrain, with guys (or girls) who are faster than me. Seems that won't happen in Hobart any more, which is fine since I plan on mainlanding when I get home at the end of the year.

Orienteering race 1:57:00 [3] 15.7 km (7:27 / km)
ahr:159 max:175 slept:2.0 shoes: Brooks Cascadias

Woke up feeling like I had the start of some fluey thing, but could have just been lack of sleep from 2 night of camping (never again).
Felt a little better after brekkie and a coffee (and another bit of Taffy brilliance) and figured I should at least start the course.
Once I started running, didn't have that 'no energy' feel like you usually do when you run while sick, so decided to do the whole course.
Made a mistake on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc so just decided to cruise around and enjoy the terrain.
Pretty much continued to make mistakes on every control and was passed by about 10 people, started to feel a bit crook in the guts on the way to 19, but was almost done so sucked it up and finished it off.
As expected, was well off the pace (2nd last).
Within about 15 minutes after finishing, it all went to shit. Queasy, fever, sweats and shivering like mad. Got a lift to Sydney with Mr. Ezy and got some liquids down after about 2 hours and some solids a couple of hours later. Now feeling OK, 12 hours after starting. Not sure what it was, kind of like a flu virus condensed into 4 hours - wouldn't recommend it.
