Running 1:01:00 [3] 9.1 km (6:42 / km) +520m 5:13 / km
ahr:150 max:170 shoes: Triumphs v2.0

Cracker run on the mountain. Springs, Organ Pipes, Junction Cabin & Sphinx Rock.
Slow going on the hills and rocks, pretty wet and slippery, but a nice smattering of snow in places to keep me entertained. Boosted it from junction cabin to try and get back under an hour, didn't quite make it, but felt really good doing so, especially when the track finally transitions to graded gravel for the last k.
Lots of people enjoying the mountain, hopefully more are realising what an asset it is having something like that on your front door step. Not so sure what the woman carrying a fishing rod and bucket thought she would catch on the Organ Pipes track though.....

Running 40:00 [3] 6.9 km (5:48 / km) +280m 4:49 / km
ahr:147 max:170 shoes: Kayanos

Belbins loop. Felt quite good, nothing special. Track very wet in places, long puddles. Saw another runner for the first time ever on this loop, there was no other car in the car park, so it was damn impressive wherever she was running from/to - we were a long way from any other parking spot!
On the domain the other day there were a lot of fallen trees and I was wondering why the council had done nothing about it. I have a feeling the reason why is due there being fallen trees on every track around Hobart. The ground is so soft and sodden at the moment it looks like every big tree is a gust away from toppling. May just stay out of the forest till it dries up a bit.

Note
(sick)

Ate some bad chicken last night. Not pretty today. Lucky I don't have to work....

Running 28:00 [2] 5.1 km (5:29 / km) +110m 4:57 / km
ahr:134 max:157 shoes: Kayanos

Think I pulled something yesterday, so did an easy lap of Fiddlers to loosen it out. Had planned on Fiddlers + LadyFiddlers but couldn't be arsed going on once I went through the car park.
Was a mud bath and unrunnable in places. Snow on the mountain in October is ridiculous.

Running hills 40:00 [4] 6.5 km (6:09 / km) +200m 5:20 / km
ahr:141 max:182 shoes: Kayanos

Back on the hills of Rosny, with Smythy and 3m.
This is going to be a hard & constant battle; the amount of excuses, whinges and general complaints about training and how hard it is could have filled a tome that would have outweighed the Bible.
8x1m hills - my legs were uber heavy after the weekend and I really only wanted to do six, but I knew if I only did six it would set a bad precedent (five was bandied about at one point but I had to put a stop to that).

Orienteering race 49:35 [5] 6.4 km (7:45 / km) +315m 6:13 / km
ahr:172 max:183 shoes: Inov8 Roclites v2.0

Oz Relays, running with Olly and Ian in a Queensland team (which I'd feel guilty about if any effort had been made to fill a Tasmanian team).
Was feeling pretty tired whilst warming up, had a bit of a broken sleep for a number of reasons - most of which don't need to be publicised.
Olly had a good race, coming back with Ben and a minute down on WA and another minute on the 2 Vic teams. I did a Meyer style sprint up the graveyard to catch up to Kez by the start triangle which turned out to be moot since we had a different first control, though we did run down Tooms on the way. Spiked 2-6 in a tight loop and met up with Kez again and Robbie appeared on the way to 8, so I settled comfortably in and let them pace me a little. We mopped up Bruce at 9 and spotted Blair at 13 which would have set up a nice little pack for the final part of the course.
Unfortunately, I'd got a little too comfortable, so when the guys punched 13 on a bare rock when I was looking for a gully the little voice in my head that was reminding me to look at my map a bit more often started gloating and said 'I told you so'. When I finally punch my 13 3.5 minutes later, there's no hope I'll be catching the pack up.
I didn't feel very fast in the final section, doing a wonky route to 14 and being too far north on 18 - but turns out I only lost another 30 seconds to the pack from 13 to the finish, even had the fastest split to 20. I think it helped that I was running with Bitmen on the downhill legs to the spectator control.
Kind of a good finish to the week - seems I can run with the guys who always finish ahead of me, but not in Long races. Got some thoughts about how to rectify this - should be an fun summer, if I can get certain Tasmanians to pull their finger out.
