Running 45:47 [3] 9.0 km (5:05 / km)
ahr:147 max:168

Cruisy run around Rosny and Montagu Bay. Felt a little sluggish to begin with due to the excess of rich food in my gut from the Recerche Bay cruise I did today. Came good in the end & found a few new tracks round the back of Gordons Hill. Low bogan factor, very happy.

Running (Tour De Hobart) 1:05:00 [4] 10.0 km (6:30 / km) +250m 5:47 / km
ahr:151 max:185

First winter tour. Quite happy with the course be need to work on the ladies (Course 2) legs to make it a bit more even. Awesome to have a massive turn out (of 8). Running in the dark leads to some sneaky manoeuvre attempts to get in front - adds to the fun. Very happy when Pookie Bear tried to block me from passing and almost ran into a rubbish bin.
Happy with how I felt, although middle of the pack most of the time, I never did a lazy leg.

Orienteering 51:00 [2] *** 6.1 km (8:22 / km) +250m 6:56 / km
ahr:144 max:168

Had planned on taping controls at Risdon Brook Dam but had no tape and nothing was open to buy any today so ran the Long course to see if was long enough.
Quite happy with the course, has a few legs I've never done before which is rare for such a commonly used map - even caught myself out on a few legs as well.
Really impressed how good the mapping is, I reckon Mike Morffew's the best mapper in Oz.

Running (Fiddlers) 21:01 [5] 5.0 km (4:12 / km) +150m 3:39 / km
ahr:170 max:184

Another PB, thats a minute off my best in about 3 weeks. Pretty stoked with that but want to get faster. New goal is to get below 20 by Dubbo - never had a goal before. Thought I wouldn't go that well cause the colds still hanging round and the run at Risdon Brook earlier in the day.

Note
(rest day)

Another 12 hour day at work. Busted my arse to get work done for a guy who I thought was going to Queensland tomorow, turns out he's not leaving till Monday.
Bludging for the next 2 days pencilled in.

Running hills 7:30 [5] 1.8 km (4:10 / km) +150m 2:56 / km
max:177

I've decided to make Monday interval day. I'll try to meet up with the group that do it at Rosny on Mondays but for now I'll just squeeze it into my far too busy workday whenever I can.
Still trying to decide on a session that keeps me interested. I hate 1mins up/2 down so tried 15sec/30/45/60 x 3. Not bad, but not quite enough - some tinkering needs to be done.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 3.6 km (6:57 / km)

Usual warm up/down/recoveries

Orienteering race (Bothwell) 1:27:55 [3] *** 9.3 km (9:27 / km) +180m 8:37 / km
spiked:8/11c

I haven't run of Bothwell since Easter 99 and it's aged terribly. A fitting warning for this one should be 'Any similarities to the terrain is purely coincidental'. This one needs a detailed write up.
1 & 2 were on the northern section which has been totally cleared. Only thing you can rely on is compass and the major tracks, nothing else fits - I think even the rocks have moved. It was weird, you were just running along having no idea where you were until you hit a linear feature. Now I know what its like to be Nicko.
2-6 were shortish legs in the forest. This is the Bothwell I remember (probably cause the course was so similar to my Day 2 one!), waist high bracken hiding knee high fallen tree. Some new forestry tracks helped a little. Had an issue at 4 cause I though I couldn't see the rock for the bracken, turns out it was such slow going I was only half way there.
7. The bitch. I originally planned to use the new logging tracks to do the long was round (like Ryan did, who had the fastest split), but saw an unmapped branch leading off the seemed like it would follow the contour into the control. It actuallt swung around and began to lead me back to where I began so I had to bite the bullet and follow the contour into the control. 500m and about 10 minutes later I make it to the control.
The rest wasn't so bad, a big detour to dodge a massive gully (that Pacque ran through - dumbass) and a few short legs to the finish.
Oh yeah, except I ran to the last control on the Easy course thinking it was the finish and began to walk back to the assembly area before I noticed the big arse Finish banner.
Having said all that, I didn't mind it too much - more cause I knew everyone else was going through the pain as well. It was pretty fun at the end comparing who had the worst luck with the terrain. I prabably won't be back though.
Total distance 12.25km, 500m climb.
