Then back at it for Day 2, this time a team comp.
Won't go into detail, we finished 8/14 in our division. It doesn't sound that great, but that was the top division and there were around 200 teams total registered in lower divisions, so lets call it 8/200 and it looks really good :)
Way more fun than the day before.

Well, it guess was time. I qualified for an individual crossfit fitness competition in Collingwood - UG Series.
To be honest, I wasn't sure if I'd end up doing it. You had to pre qualify (the videos I mentioned a few weeks ago that Super really wanted to watch). They took the top 8 (I was 6th), so I figured it was kind of unfair to the people who missed out if I didn't take my spot.
There were 5 workouts in all, but people started to get cut after the 3rd.
The first was kept a secret until the day of and at 1pm, they put us on a bus and shipped us off to the base of Blue Mountain for 'The Grind', 2k trail run to the top....
I considered going full D-Bag by getting kitted out in DGL gear, but with my unreliable calf blowing up repeatedly in the past month I decided to keep in subtle.
It started waaaay too fast, I think I was in 6th place after the first minute. It didn't take too long before me and one other guy passed this pack and it was just the two of us the whole way up. He was on my shoulder the whole way and had me work way harder than I wanted to. He attempted a late surge, but went too early and I was greeted by the ever professional Bobby Miller at the finish line.
Workout #2 went less well, a bunch of burpees, overhead squats, pull ups and snatches. I was toast from the run and I found out afterwards, most of the other guys had 'tested' the workout before today - which apparently helps. So, a last place to match my first.
#3 was the one I was looking forward to. 3 rounds of 50m swim, 3 bar muscle ups. Cause I know you want to see this one, here's the start of my heat - it's impossible to see, but I'm 2nd from the left.

This came down to how well you managed the bar with wet hands and I worked it out, 2nd for that one.
Sitting in 4th place, I made the cut for the next round. The next workout was not my forte and I was ready to go home. The other 3 guys were all bigger than me, there was no chance I was going to be going any further so went through the motions and was happy to be cut in 4th place.
I took a lot of good things from this, basically it was 2 firsts and 2 lasts - so it shows I've got some obvious holes to work on. I'd prefer this over finishing 4th or 5th every time.
3rd place overall would have got me some $$$, so maybe I'll think about it again next year.
