Running - Trail 1:55:00 [3] 19.0 km (6:03 / km)
Keen observers of my log will have noticed a distinct lack of whatever colour running is in my log of recent months.
It turns out I can fake a 10k on no running training, but not a 20 (or at least, not a hilly 20)
The first half felt very good and cruised thought on the pace I was hoping for without much effort, keeping HR below 160 (which I've found in the past to work best on this race). Then that middle, slightly new section chewed me up. My right achilles was sore from the start of the race and I guess I'd been favouring my left leg, cause my hamstring locked right up and hip felt very tight. That last section coming off Farmers Field wasn't as fun as it usually is.
Am I upset, not really. Would I change anything about my lead up? No. I like how I train now. All the soreness was gone in 24 hours and I was able to snatchedy just fine on Monday - so all good. I enjoyed the race a helluva lot and not remotely feeling burnt out like after 2013 when I PRd my course time, so I think this works best for me.
