Note

Heel needed a break. Played cards/watched people who are better at Euchre than me all day instead. Worth.

ahr:153 max:177

BT exploring out to Reed's Dump with McQuinn, #Turdo, Buse, Tolley and Nick.
Sweet run, some fairly technical terrifying trails right on the cliff and a more cruisy doubletrack side trail back.
Heel/arch pretty grumpy by the end, hobbling for a few hours after - couldn't make it to the grotto.

CF 52:00 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (12:00 @5)

Tough one today. My tiny T-Rex arms took a battering.

Running - Trail 30:08 [2] 4.0 km (7:32 / km) +26m 7:17 / km

Short BT section near Owen Sound to blow off some steam & frustration. Glad I did it, felt much better after.

Sunday arvo ride with Hammer, Sudden and Gustav.
Good fun, but started to get close to bonking without any water. Inhaled some C-Milk and Vanilla Coke on completion.

CF 38:40 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (8:40 @5)

First real session. Interesting. Stretches, long warm up, sprints, 5RM of some row variations, then the WOD which was 1xjump squats, 2xburpees, 3xsqats - 20 times.
It kicked my arse. To be honest, you can pretty much do this whole thing yourself, but what I liked is there's someone there to tell you what to do so you can't slack off and every session changes daily. No need to think it up yourself, just show up and be told what do to. Will be sticking with it in the short term at least.

ahr:139 max:174

Up the rail trail to Trail Cenrte and back via Groundhog High and the Braids. Pretty hesitant on any fallen tree crossings, still a little leery of falling off and reopening the wound.

CF 20:00 [3]

So, I'm looking into crossfit. Part of me has been skeptical about is as it seems kinda flavour of the month, but with my leg healing, heel still giving me grief and the unlikeliness of me biking everyday I've decided to give it a shot.
That and I've been talking about starting something like this for over a year now :/
Anyway, this was just an intro to determine my level of weakness and going through what a hour session looks like. As expected, lower body good/upper body of a frail shrew.

Cycling 1:01:58 [2] 10.34 km (10.0 kph) +76m

Sweet MTBsmt with Hammer in the Christie Trails. More has been built, almost connected to the cool rollercoaster section.

Staples out. Leg stayed together

Faile
GPS & HR added. Incident happened at 8:25 - interesting HR spike over the next 45 seconds - that's adrenaline/fear in action

3rd leg of the Relay.
So much fun - kinda bummed the foot is what it is, with Tarno, Sudden, the Griz and myself starting within minutes of each other this was a very rare chance for a DGL head to head.
Error at #8 where I lost Griz (though he was following me into the mistake), and stupidly slow on the final loop, but pretty decent otherwise.
There should be more relays.

Orienteering 17:28 [4] 3.25 km (5:23 / km) +15m 5:15 / km

Canadian Sprint Champs.
So I wasn't going to go out again, but how often do you get the chance to run on a world quality sprint area in North America?
It went better than yesterday, but not at that 'knife edge' sprint pace where you're almost on the edge of falling off which I really love.
A few errors here and there due to more of a focus on foot positioning than the map, but I embarrassed a few people (including tnipen on one route choice), so worth.

ahr:154 max:173 shoes: 2013 Orocs

Well that sucked.
Canadian Middle Champs. My first real orienteering race since 2012 NAOCs I believe! I knew it was going to be touch and go with the heel and the first 20mins seems to go OK.
However then fatigue set in and it became harder and harder to 'place' it well with all the dead fall and rock, so I ended up walking most of the second half
Frustrating, but at least it was a really cool area and it was nice just to be out in it.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 4.0 km (17:30 / km)
shoes: 2013 Orocs

Time on both training maps with the posse. Super rugged and hot out, but some really sexy woods as well.
Not enough time spent swimming at Lost Lake. Hopefully One Duck Lake is equally awesome.
