Running - Trail 20:00 [4]
shoes: Yellow VIbrams

Due to a standstill on the 401, I got to Chicopee at 4:45pm (compared to 4pm when I usually like to start setting up for ARK)

Frantic mad dash around the slopes and trails getting all the flags out. Thankfully when I got back Tiny was being a good volunteer and putting all the maps in bags for me. I gave him a 100% raise.

Orienteering 25:00 [2]
shoes: Yellow VIbrams

Easy jog around Fireman's Park collecting the ARK Attack flags from two weeks ago.

Running - Trail 1:21:11 [3] 10.98 km (7:24 / km) +757m 5:30 / km
shoes: Yellow VIbrams

Hurt Locker, 8 times up edition.
Probably not much faster, but felt a whole lot better than last week. Alternated ascent directions and descent routes to keep it interesting which helped a lot when I was on #4 and above.
These shoes are not the best for descending, bad laces that are impossible to tighten, so they come loose and I slip and slide around in them going downhill.

Running - Trail 1:53:46 [3] 17.24 km (6:36 / km) +504m 5:45 / km
shoes: MT 1010 2014

smt, first hour with Trav, Tarno and Al. Feeling pretty comfortable cruising along at the back, but the first climb up K2 made it clear that would change in the next hour - so peeled off and did Tiffany Falls loop solo.
Property boundary camera has now gone from the top of Washboard Falls, replaced by a lot more 'private property, no hunting' signs.
4 PM

Running - Street 45:00 [5]
shoes: Kinvara: Blue & Fluoro Green

Up in Toronto for a friends 30th, an Amazing Race event. Normally I wouldn't log something like this, but with a competitive, City Chase winning team mate - my calves were screaming by the end.
Pretty fun tour of High Park and Roncesvalles. 10/10 would run again.

Cycling 2:44:16 [3] 35.09 km (12.8 kph) +438m

Needed to get out and update the trails at Christie before the school race. 20+ degrees, seems like as perfect time as ever to get Bessie out of her winter slumber.
Bit off a little more than I could chew on this one. Started to feel the pinch badly coming up Weirs Lane - it was a death march in Christie and on the way back home. Lucky stops at the Trail Centre for a Coke and Mars Bar, then later at Domestique for a Maple Ale and Golden Lion made it possible though.
Had never been through Crooks Hollow or the 'Spencer Adventure' trail before. Really nice little trails, though I went over the handle bars at one point.

Running - Trail 1:15:47 [4] 10.96 km (6:55 / km) +556m 5:31 / km
shoes: MT 1010 2014

Hurt Locker. Fun, kinda weird session.
First 3 loops felt easy and fun. Stopped on the 4th for a shoelace and toilet break and lost the group. Then it was a brutal, unfun grind to get the next 3 out, felt light headed and headache-y at the same time - think I need to focus on getting enough water through the day.
Happy to get in before the hour was up to get a 7th loop.

Running - Trail 37:41 [3] 6.58 km (5:43 / km) +259m 4:47 / km
shoes: MT 1010 2014

Quick and easy Borer's Falls loop. Knee still feeling a little sore on the downhills, but improving. Ready for the Hurt Locker tomorrow.

Running - Trail 2:33:43 [3] 20.5 km (7:30 / km) +323m 6:57 / km

Sweet Hilton Falls loop with D-Bag and menzies.
Super nice day for it, a few sections of side trail still lost to fallen trees which slowed us down a bit. Glad to have done it - thanks boys.

4 PM

Running - Trail 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Trail Kinvara - Earl Tea Greys

40 mins on the trails before ARK, then general running with the ARK Attack crew.
Epic mud fest on the trails now, but I'll take it over the ice blanket.

Monday Apr 7, 2014 #

3 PM

Running - Trail 25:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Trail Kinvara - Earl Tea Greys

ARK set up plus a little explore of the trails round Glenridge. Feeling sluggish.
5 PM

Running - Trail 50:00 [3] 6.0 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Trail Kinvara - Earl Tea Greys

4 laps of the ARK Nav course for the evening + 2 lots of impromptu relocation practice since the course was too easy for the older kids.
Feeling fine. Maybe I just need 15 training partners to distract me.

Saturday Apr 5, 2014 #

8 AM

Running - Trail 2:10:00 [2] 17.0 km (7:39 / km)
shoes: MT 1010 2014

smt with Trav and Katie Mac.
First 45 mins, felt the usual fraile-ness I've had lately.
Then it was gone. And it felt good.
Lots of ice-where-the-hell-do-I-go-from-here breaks may have helped.
