Trail Run 3:00:00 [3] +985m

Awesome little adventure atop the high country of Kaua'i. I linked up two out-and-back routes to precipitous drops into the Pacific Ocean with a 'closed due to slide' ridge route and voila, a nice tour. The views were really quite incredible. I was a little spooked for a bit when I came across a group of wild boar. Thankfully, I had scared them off the trail and into the bush below me. I could hear them bushwhacking and snorting away for a while and hoped none would charge. Anyway, I was pretty bagged for the 3k road rash at the end of this session.
For the cyclists, getting atop the Waimea Canyon is a perfectly paved, windy, steep, and beautiful ~30k climb that rivals anything I did in France or Italy. Only Galibier from the north comes to mind as a comparable. Crazy that I only saw 3 riders on the two occasions that we were in the area as I think that this would be one of the best climbs in N.A.
