Full day on hill and I made the most of it - no stop for lunch, just kept doing lap after lap. Some really great snow up on Mt. Todd. I spent quite a bit of time in the trees and thankfully didn't hit any.
Crooozy session with a newbie XC skier and I pulled as many of the Coach Doughty drills as I could remember to get them started with 'the basic skills'.
It was a slow burn up the 10k climb to the top of Mt. Morissey...with EDawg in tow inside the Chariot. I didn't break any speed records but it was a good challenge. Nothing too hairy on the way back down and EDawg slept the WHOLE time. Just before reaching the warming hut, he awoke just in time for lunch. Sometimes, it is possible to thread the needle.
I had visions of climb Mt. Morrisey from behind our place on classic skis but didn't really know what I'd face. Turns out that Leanimal's description was a little "off" and the climb was ski touring'esque. Never the less, I gave it a go for a while until I decided to bomb back down with skis and poles in hand. I then toured around the low level tracks while the sun set.
This was a tough session because we received a bunch of snow today, it warmed up, and they didn't groom. So, while beautiful out, even the flats were a climb.
Haven't logged any of my alpine skiing this season as I've been out mostly with Wee on Mt. Seymour and it hardly constituted 'training'...other than testing my patience at times! In any case, we're at Sun Peaks north of Kamloops for the week. Leanimal and I hope to get in at least one day of proper skiing each between parental duties. The new skate skis seem to have some sweet glide...just have to work on the driver some more.

It's not often that one can get first tracks at 16h30 but there was no one on the perfectly groomed trails. This was a necessary outing to clear my head after a day of dealing with 6 year-old 'complaints' with a smile. Little monkey. Must get back tomorrow.
