11 AM

Running 1:25:00 [2] 11.0 mi (7:44 / mi)

Run around Blidworth before (on my own) and after (with Eddie). Legs felt heavy.

Orienteering 46:00 [4] 6.0 mi (7:40 / mi)

Brown course. Tried to push hard but was feeling pretty flat. Can't admit to being too inspired by the terrain (there were however flashes of clean terrain amongst the brambles). Thought course was good but maybe a bit on the short side.

10 AM

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (45:00 @2) + (25:00 @5) 11.0 mi (6:22 / mi)

Training in Roundhay with the North of England training group that Dave A and others are coordinating. Good session with a big group which was 6 minutes, then 3 x 45 sec (with 45 rec), then 6 minutes, then 45 seconds again and a 6 minute push to finish. Tough but it was over pretty quickly. Didn't nail the session - feel too much like a blunt implement at the moment to try and mix up different paces during a session.

7 AM

Running 1:04:00 [2] 8.2 mi (7:48 / mi)

Run from home around Riv valley and then on to work. Very dark (not surprisingly) to start with and was quite slow but got going as the light improved.

Thursday Jan 19, 2012 #

Running 1:20:00 intensity: (45:00 @2) + (35:00 @5) 10.3 mi (7:46 / mi)

Middleton park hill reps. 4 sets of 3 hills of about 1 minute each. Good group out today and there was no slacking on the reps. My right calf was twinging a bit on the reps but settled with some stretching. Run to reps and home too.
7 AM

Running 25:00 [2] 3.2 mi (7:49 / mi)

Early morning plod.

8 AM

Running 26:00 [2] 3.2 mi (8:07 / mi)

Easy jog to work - legs tired. Luckily no casualties spotted today.
6 PM

Running 1:11:00 [2] 9.18 mi (7:44 / mi)

Steady run home - the hilly way. Feeling stronger tonight, but it might have been the fact that it was not blowing a gale or pouring down with rain.

Note

Been a strange 12 hours where I have seen 2 accidents / situations requiring an ambulance. First one was last night at the cinema where an individual started to have some kind of "fit" and then this morning a cyclist had got knocked over by a car right outside the Arts Tower (although I did not see the accident myself).

On both occasions other people reacted before I did and seemed to have the situation under control. Made me realise quite how useless I am in these situations with no form of medical training / first aid know how. Going to book myself on a course next time one comes up at work.
8 AM

Running 26:00 [2] 3.2 mi (8:07 / mi)

Run to work. The hill at the end doesn't get any easier.
6 PM

Running 55:00 [2] 7.5 mi (7:20 / mi)

Run to and back from track. Good group of us on the way back all the way to Kelham island.

Running 35:00 [5] 6.0 mi (5:50 / mi)

Intervals at Don Valley. The session was 6 x 1 mile with 60 seconds recovery. Glad I did not know this before I set off from work otherwise I might have wimped out. Track was pretty slippy on the bends and conditions deteriorated during the session which just made it even tougher.

Made the most of running in a group with Dave, Tom and Andy and was really pleased to knock them all out in sub 5 (but all around 4.58/59). Felt very cruisey for the first 4 but found the last 2 a struggle and could not match Andy and Tom's pace - they were both flying.

7 AM

Running 1:03:00 [2] 9.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Steady run up to the Flask. Gorgeous morning - nice and frosty with a lovely sunrise. If legs were feeling a bit more frisky it would have been perfect.
6 PM

Running 16:00 [1] 2.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Really really easy run home just to loosen the legs (and commute).

S+C 45:00 [1]

Yoga DVD with Clare. We were both a) smelly (as we had just got home from running) and b) pretty rubbish still (although Clare is better than me).
