Orienteering 1:23:00 [4] 14.0 km (5:56 / km)

Harvester - what a great race. Got an early wakeup call from Neil to let me know we were ahead of schedule so hot footed it over to the assembly field. When I arrived it was clear that all the boys had run to form (with great runs from Alex, Al and Neil in particular) and we had a comfortable lead.

Had a very steady run and really enjoyed myself. More of a steady / fast cruise than a race but it meant that I spiked pretty much everything. Probably my cleanest run at Eckie woods ever.

Hats off to all of ShuOC for a superb event - very professionally organised, and really raised the bar in terms of the harvester and races in general. Great courses from Laura and Ralph too.

Easy run with Mike - temporarily took me out of my soporific state.

Running warm up/down 1:12:00 [2] 9.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Run to parkrun was a bit eventful. First off, my printer failed to print my barcode properly so I was cutting it fine when I left. Last night's curry (and beer) was not settling well on my stomach either so had a last minute loo stop before leaving the house. Then stomach was turning over again by the top of South Road. Minced over to S10 gym but it was closed, and then wobbled over to Cream cafe. Made no eye contact and ran for the loo. Left 5 minutes later, feeling very sorry for the lady who was waiting to use the toilet after me.

Got to the park run about 5 minutes late but luckily it had not started; managed to make it to the start with 5 seconds to spare.

Nice extended warm down with Mike after the run - good to catch up.

Running tempo 16:30 [5] 5.0 km (3:18 / km)

Park run. Took it controlled and steady - the idea being to get a good workout but not to kill myself. I had no idea of time (still watchless) so just tried to keep a relaxed but fast pace. Managed to sneak the win. Massive crowd and good to catch up with a few people - shame the rain meant that there was no chance to chit chat.

Running 1:30:00 [3] 12.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Steady run from home. Plan was to run over Wharncliffe but once I got to Oughtibridge decided to turn left and towards Bradfield. Gorgeous morning for it and legs feeling a bit more sprightly today.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [1] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Easy running with Neil.
7 PM

Running 30:30 [5] 4.0 mi (7:38 / mi)

Bamford fell race. Oh the shame, I had B8NDs head on a plate and I failed to capitalise. Snuck in behind Stuart all the way to the top. We took a wrong turn (veered off too soon before picking up the traversing trail across to Parkin Clough) and I stupidly followed thinking he was short cutting and not wanting to get left behind. Turns out this was a long cut. Rejoined the course on Parkin Clough about 1 - 1.30 minutes down on the leaders. Lost motivation at this stage (and I was a bit tired) and Bond reached the top about 10 seconds ahead of me. He flew down the hill and took another 20 seconds out of me. Neil came 3rd and I was 30 seconds back for 5th?.

If I had kept true to myself and the course then I was definitely on for the win. Oh well, there is always next year...
