Running 1:36:24 [2] 20.0 km (4:49 / km)

Run from Chatsworth with Candyman supporting the 10k race going on and then a bit longer. Course was nice to jog round but would have been a toughie to race. Impressed with the fast times being run on a hilly course and in hot conditions.

Legs were sore on the down hills and are going to be worse tomorrow.

Warm up and down. Warm down with Speakey was more of a hobble than a jog. I stopped to dip my feet in a stream to cool them off.

Running race 1:16:07 [5] 9.56 mi (7:58 / mi) +886m 6:11 / mi

Intercounties Fell Race on the Clwydian Range in North Wales. This was also first race in the McCain UK Mountain Challenge which I am hoping to complete this year and was my first fell race in a very long time (12 months?).

Needless to say I was a bit apprehensive before the start but just wanted to enjoy myself. However I was questioning this strategy after 20 minutes as I was dying on my arse going up the third 200m+ hill climb in straight succession. By this stage my back, hip flexors and glutes were aching. As the race went on I started to feel a bit stronger and this was because the running got slightly less brutal. There were a few spectacular crash outs(Rob Jebb and Rob Hope) due to the conditions and because of this I managed to sneak into the top 10. I was 9th and Speakey 7th. Easy run to work. The direct way. Did a few bounds and drills on the way up the hill.

Running 1:18:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:48 / mi)

Steady run from work. Was hoping to get to the session but got collared on the way out of the office. Ran passed the club house and then to Oughtibridge and back. Dry and hot out and it didn't feel particularly comfortable. Enjoyed it all the same.

Met up with Andy T for an early morning run up riv valley and back. Felt tired and lethargic to start with but slowly got going. Lovely morning and certainly feeling quite virtuous when I got home. Was cutting it very fine to get to work on time though as the virtuosity turned into faffisity upon getting in the door.

Saw Mike out too, will be good to get an early morning group together.

Orienteering in Botanical Gardens. Nearly didn't make it as I realised that I had left my keys at home and needed to get security to come and lock the office up. Woops.

Four little exercises with flags and everything. Loads of people out and I really enjoyed it although I was feeling flat.

Run to orienteering and then home again. Resisted fish and chips and cooked pasta for tea. Always harder to cook when Clare is away.

Running from work to Gareth's and then on to Bole Hill park. Am going to try out some hill bounding and down hill running for a few weeks. Doing 3 types of bounding; high knees, bounds and spring steps. After doing one set of hills, did some easy running and then did 400m of downhill running. Followed this with some strides and then repeated. Tired by the end.
