10 AM

Running 2:03:00 [3] 18.0 mi (6:50 / mi)

Steady run up the trans pennine way and then ending up at the showroom cinema to catch up with the guys and some of SHAFF. Good films.

Running race 38:00 [5] 7.5 mi (5:04 / mi)
ahr:157 max:168

Intercounties. Undulating and firm course made this a faster paced XC than the nationals or northerns. Started conservatively and worked my way through the field. Have not seen results and difficult to judge how I did; psychology I did not feel as committed to this as I have other races. My mind is on the marathon - fact that I only got the call on Thursday probably explains a lot of this. Better session physically than psychologically. Not sure where I came as I have not seen results. But I did get Doscoe'd - in the last 150m.
2 PM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 3.5 mi (7:09 / mi)

Warm up and down. Calves really tight on the warm down.

Running (Recovery run) 24:00 [1] 3.2 mi (7:30 / mi)

Very very easy run to work. Felt tired this morning but figured it was a good idea to take the legs for a spin.

Note

Just realised that I have set a new personal record for 7 days running - 109 miles. Going to take it easy tomorrow...especially I just got a phone call asking me to run in the Intercounties on Saturday. Don't think I will be my freshest.
8 AM

Running 24:00 [2] 3.2 mi (7:30 / mi)

Run to work. The slightly shorter version.
5 PM

Running 1:44:20 [2] 15.1 mi (6:55 / mi)
ahr:127 max:139

Run from work to home via Huntersbar, Pondsforge and Kelham island, then dumped my bag, grabbed a torch and headed up to Rivelin Dam and then turned round and cruised down the road home. Tired by end, but felt quite strong. Saw a few MTBers in Rivelin using their torches - looked like fun.

Running 39:00 [2] 5.2 mi (7:30 / mi)

Run before work from home. Much nicer running from home than to work but it is really inefficient as I then have to "waste" 30 minutes getting the tram in.
2 PM

Running 1:13:22 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (48:22 @4) 12.0 mi (6:07 / mi)

Had the afternoon off work so decided to do my tempo session somewhere nice as a treat. Chose Derwent which was gorgeous and quite. Did 10 min warm up then 3x15minutes (@tempo pace) with 90 seconds float recovery. Legs struggled to start with, but I got more into it as the session progressed. Stuck to the road and the route undulated throughout so was pleased with my speed (which I only looked at after the session) - averaged 5.35, 5.33 and 5.26. Saw Chappers (out with pram and child) but was in mid rep so did not stop and we gave each other a cheesy high 5 instead! Finished it off with 5 x 100m(ish) strides. Then had a late lunch reading the paper overlooking the reservoir - nice.

7 AM

Running 52:00 [2] 6.8 mi (7:39 / mi)

Steady run to work. Feeling lethargic.
6 PM

S+C 45:00 [2]

Gym session. Couldn't get on the squat bar so had to use the Smith machine. Up to 140 on the half squats now.

Running 53:00 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (38:00 @3) 7.7 mi (6:53 / mi)

Run home via gym at a steady pace and then stepped it up for the last 5.2 miles from home (averaging 6.30s) out to Oughtibridge.

6 PM

Running 56:00 [1] 7.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Didn't get to run at lunchtime (note to self if I want to guarantee a run need to do it before work). Felt rubbish all day and convinced I was coming down with something. So was going to run very steadily home just to turn over the legs. However once I got going felt much better and decided to go to the drills session as planned.
7 PM

Running drills 45:00 [2] 1.5 mi (30:00 / mi)

Drills. We seemed a bit more organised this week (but not sure we convinced Rach of that). Good session. Could feel yesterday's session in my legs.
