Long run out. First hour with Phil, Dave and Gareth exploring the area and taking advantage of drink points. The second hour by myself around Kyloe.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Nice steady run around Kyloe on the tracks. Was not at any point missing the orienteering - everytime I saw someone fighting through some grot I was relieved not to be in it! Thighs were sore but don't think I have done them any lasting damage (touch wood).

Orienteering race 18:00 [5] 3.0 mi (6:00 / mi)

JK sprint. My number 1 aim was not to hurt myself so I really should congratulate myself on getting to number 3 in one piece. On the way to 4 I ran straight into a fence, hammering my thigh muscles and then scraping my shins in the process of falling over - ouch. Ran on, but struggled to fully concentrate was really annoyed with myself at being so stupid. This led to a number of misses and general frustration.

Run to Oughtibridge (but did not quite get there) and back. Left calf was really sore and decided to cut it short. Not sure where all these niggles are coming from.

Run to work - nice and steady.

Running 1:03:00 intensity: (30:00 @3) + (33:00 @4) 10.6 mi (5:57 / mi)

3 x 1 miles at half mara pace with 0.5 miles recovery and then 3 miles at marathon pace. Ran around Kelham Island - it was bloody windy today and every corner I turned I appeared to be running into the wind.

1.5 miles warm up and down.

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Sprint O around "the Edge" using the W21 course from last year. Bit of a shock to the system

Run to work

Running 21:00 [2] 3.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Lunchtime run to the edge and then to gym and then to work (phew).

Orienteering 16:00 [3] 2.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Some controls around the town centre on the way home.

Running 20:00 [3] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

Rest of the run home.

S+C 25:00 [3]

Core training in the gym - going to give the weights a rest till the marathon.

Run home from work - nice and steady.
