Running 1:40:00 [4] 16.0 mi (6:15 / mi)

I was craving the roads after yesterday's peak based running. Indulged myself with a run up to Damflask. Did 3 loops, trying to keep it brisk on the flatish bits. Tired to start with but slowly got warmed up and felt good towards the end. Loads of people out.

Running 2:00:00 [3] 13.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

Fantastic run on the peaks. Only run in conditions like this once before about 8 years ago. Good group out and the pace was solid. Impressed / shocked by Andy T's bare legged approach (Camel would be proud). Hills were tough in the powder and glutes were sore from the gym. Felt smug all afternoon.

S+C 1:00:00 [3]

Gym session with OJ. Felt sluggish to start with but slowly got into it. Pretty quiet but some rugger boys were hogging the squats bar - tsk. Made up for it with some single leg squats and lunges.

Running 39:00 [2] 5.5 mi (7:05 / mi)

Run to gym in the morning and then run home in the evening.

Running 37:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

Run to work in the snow. Still not many cars about and bloody cold. Saw Jen just outside work.

Running 54:00 [3] 8.5 mi (6:21 / mi)

Run up Porter Valley - it was great. It was the first time that I have had the opportunity to play in the snow. It was pretty busy but there were sections when I was by myself and it was great. Lots of snowboarders and sledgers out and about.

Running tempo 20:00 [4] 6.0 km (3:20 / km)

This was horrible. Decided to do a tempo run on the treadmill - the plan was 10 miles with 5 miles at half marathon pace (5.20 milling / 3.20 kms ) - no problem. After 6k warm up on the treadmill I upped the pace (using a 1% gradient) but it felt incredibly hard - wanted to drop out after 5 minutes but managed to struggle on for 10 minutes when I needed a loo stop. It that took longer than planned. (who needs to spend more than 5 minutes in the gym taking a cr*p?). Did another 10 minutes but was pasted by the end.

Not sure why it was so hard running on the treadmill. Was it because 1) I am not used to it; 2) I am just tired; 3) I am not used to running at this pace;4) I am a pussy and should have just tried to hang on. Think it is a mixture of the four but can't help but think it was 4 - running on a treadmill gives you nothing else to think about. Shame my heart rate monitor was not working properly because I would have been interested to see what it got up to.

Running 42:00 [2] 6.2 mi (6:46 / mi)

Warm up and down - mixture of road and treadmill running.

Running 37:00 [5] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

RTW - tired.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 8.75 mi (6:51 / mi)

Run to Northern General and then from NG home again. Ian looked on the mend after his operation.

The route was quite good, but the hills around the hospital were pretty tough with a full pack on. Running on the roads and pavements.

S+C 1:00:00 [3]

Session at the decidedly open gym. Met Candyman and went through a decent session.

Running 37:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

RTW - left glute sore and left hammy tight (could feel it stiffening up a bit at the end of the run yesterday). Snow had settled but roads were pretty clear. Fun.

Running 37:00 [2] 5.0 mi (7:24 / mi)

RHFW - everyone had left work by 5 - everyone was acting as if the world was about to end or something. Due to this max exodus the roads were pretty clear. Despite the flurries it was a nice run home.
