Running 2:30:00 [2] 20.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Long run out to Wharncliffe (through Beeley) then along the Trans Pennine trail for a bit (which was great - never run along it much before) then back again, but down de ramp. Gorgeous day to be out and really nice just to go for a nice long run on the trails without having to kill myself doing any kind of reps. Had to do a tiny loop around the house to bring it up to 2.30 (which was coincidently bang on 20 miles).

Note

Have been keeping an eye on the Berlin Marathon and Ray Ward's performance - got chatting to him at K + R's wedding and he was going for a sub 2:30 time. He ran a half in Glasgow the next day in 69 something so was obviously really fit. He managed an impressive 2:32:45. It looks like he suffered on the last 5k (up to that point he was on for 2:28). This marathon malarkey is going to be painful....

Can't believe HG's time!

Running warm up/down 50:00 [2] 10.8 km (4:38 / km)

Warming up and down with Scott. Legs felt stiff and calves really sore (and that was just on the warm up!). Slightly better on the warm down.

Running race 16:48 [5] 5.45 km (3:05 / km)

Northern Road Relays in Hartlepool. Probably the most unexciting / painful course I have run on. Straight out and back along the promenade. The only saving grace was that it was a gorgeous day with hardly any wind - the sea was completely calm.

Started off hard, but felt that I wasn't in enough pain so pushed harder (convinced myself I was running at half marathon pace) and totally blew up on the last 2 miles which made it a really painful way to finish. Reasonably satisfied with the race.

Hallamshire A were 14th and B were 17th which were pretty solid results (69 teams in total) and both teams qualify for the Nationals. http://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2008/n608.pd...

Had a sports massage today - ITBs really sore as were calves.

Running 1:23:00 intensity: (50:00 @3) + (33:00 @4) 14.0 mi (5:56 / mi)

Run from home to Kelham island (1.5 miles) then round my secret Kelham island loop @ 1/2 marathon pace (2 miles) then out to Oughtibridge (2.5 miles), 2 miles @ 1/2 marathon pace and then back to Kelham island for another 2 miles (slightly faster than the first set) and then home. As GR would say.. Tough session...Done. In between sets I was running at steady 6 - 6.15 pace.

Legs felt a bit stiff yesterday but pleased with overall session. Not many more of these kind of sessions left.

Running 58:00 [3] 10.0 mi (5:48 / mi)

Ran out through Beeley to Oughtibridge and back. Oughtibridge is the new Dam Flask don't you know.

Pushed it a little and was pleased with pace. Hamstrings a little tight afterwards so did lots of stretching.

Running 24:00 [2] 3.25 mi (7:23 / mi)

Run to work.

Running 50:00 [2] 7.2 mi (6:57 / mi)

Run home, then to Beeleywoods and back down from Middlewood.

Running 35:00 [2] 5.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Steady run home - legs feeling ok but not spectacular.

Running 24:00 [2] 3.25 mi (7:23 / mi)

Run to work. Nearly got knocked over (but not as dramatically as Shep) - some idiot was turning left (without slowing down or indicating) and I nearly ran straight into him. He beeped me, then I politely pointed out that he hadn't indicated, nor made any sign of turning left and that he was a w*nker.
