A bit of an action packed day. After an exciting morning watching the world champs relays on the internet and then the tv. Very nerve racking but definitely the most exciting orienteering race I have every watched (even remotely).
Managed to get a run on one of the training maps in the afternoon. It had been dry all day and then I took 3 steps out of the car and ran into a thunderstorm.
Terrain was really sexy - looking forward to the rest of the week.
Early run in the morning - around Loxley Valley. In the rain. Not nice.
Running1:50:15 18.0 mi (6:08 / mi)
Long run from work (via the garage to sort the car MOT out) and then home, 2 x Dam Flask reservoirs, spout lane, myers grove. I was trying to keep a steady pace going and ran 2 x 10 minute tempo bits (at just under marathon pace). Finished at Myers Grove school where I ran a mile almost flat out at right at the end of the session on the grass track. Managed 5:15 for 4 laps. Then struggled the last 500 meters home.
Left leg was ok - but could feel it getting tighter during the session.
