Strength 20:00 [2]

Snow shovelling for about 45 min. I don't think I'm in snow shovelling shape (or didn't use my core enough) as my back is sore now...
10 AM

Classic ski 1:30:00 [2] 17.0 km (5:18 / km) +375m 4:46 / km

Dog loop with Courtney, Atsuko and my parents then the three of us did Main Loop and Mickey's. Trails were getting a bit rougher through the course of the day with some new snow and lots of kids out (Saturday morning nordic).

Backcountry skiing (Hi 5/100eight) 2:30:00 [2] 12.5 km (12:00 / km) +725m 9:18 / km

Touring at MacPherson with Courtney, Stuart and my dad. We were trying to take advantage of one last day of cold weather and hopefully good snow conditions lower down. Didn't quite make it as far as I had planned though as my dad got a bit tired and was worried about having energy for the way down. It was his first time out and the uptrack was fairly technical. Didn't get quite the bang for the buck in terms of effort vs reward as the first 400m at Macpherson are always wasted on nordic trails, the skid road or thick forest. Still a good outing trying a new route across to the bottom of the womb and checking out the skiers left gully there that is on my list to ski from the top. The ski out was particularly bad as the previous tracks went too far left into the old cutblock. Staying closer to the creek and crossing to the right side is probably a better option.

Classic ski 40:00 [2] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Dog loop with my mom and dad. Ran out of time to do more as we were doing some coaching and I then had to work in the afternoon.

Classic ski 1:20:00 [2] 14.5 km (5:31 / km) +363m 4:54 / km

Nice ski with Courtney and Atsuko. Dog loop and then some of the new trails. The alternative climb to Main Loop is a really nice addition.

Skate ski 1:30:00 [2] 16.5 km (5:27 / km) +402m 4:52 / km

Dog loop and then a big outer loop with Courtney, Russ, Vikki and Atsuko. Weirdly the upper trails seemed to be in worse shape than the lower trails. Kind of slow conditions. Still nice though.

Run 30:00 [2] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Columbia Outdry

Slow run on the greenbelt with Courtney and Milo. New snow meant slow going.
3 PM

Classic ski 1:00:00 [2] 10.0 km (6:00 / km) +186m 5:29 / km

Dog loop and Mickey's under the lights. Milo is doing well with the xc skiing. He gets sidetracked playing with other dogs but otherwise not jumping on any skiers.

Backcountry skiing (Hi 5) 3:30:00 [3] 13.0 km (16:09 / km) +1350m 10:38 / km

Great day of touring at the Fingers with Stuart. Was mainly a reconnaissance day but adequate supportive coverage up high and 20-25cm of new snow meant the skiing was stellar. It helped that there was little traffic there (early season) so we broke trail between the 5/6th fingers and had untracked runs down both of them. As there hasn't been much previous skier traffic yet no old moguls under the new snow yet... kind of reminded me of the old days at the Fingers. Ran into Troy with a CAPOW AST2 group.
