Bike 2:30:00 [2] 25.0 km (10.0 kph) +750m

Frisby with Courtney, Sean and Juliann. Luckily the weather held out and though cloudy no drizzle. Casual pace heading up with a few stops to regroup. Did the upper loop and headed back. The trail is certainly getting more blue in many spots as time and traffic takes a toll.

Run 1:08:00 [2] 10.5 km (6:29 / km) +300m 5:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Black

Kenna Cartwright Park in Kamloops - Courtney was working today so I had a day to kill. Spent most of it catching up on scheduling things but got out for an afternoon run. It certainly was obvious that I hadn't run for two weeks. Felt OK after 20 minutes and then slowed down after 45 minutes. The last part of the run was less interesting which didn't help - best to stay on the west and south sides of the hill as the east side is a bit boring.

Valemount BC. Great weather yesterday and today. Was reminded that the Robson Valley is really quite beautiful and worth coming back to (have onlyy driven through here a couple times). Did not have Valemount on our riding radar until Sue mentioned that they now had a climbing trail. That twigged a memory that there was a bike park here so picked this as the spot to break up our drive to Kamloops. The climb was OK - fairly typical machine built climbing trail. Not terribly technical but better than climbing the road. Surprised to be in so many deciduous trees here - when we dropped into Tin Foil Hat though the forest became much more familiar with lots of dark moss (north facing). Great machine built tech/flow trail. The along some XC trails which were much better than expected for green trails and then up for a better descent to the truck. This trail was another Half Nelson machine built trail - lots of fun.

Bike 1:10:00 [2] 10.0 km (8.6 kph) +430m

Just Courtney and me this morning. As the campground and parking lot were now empty (long weekend over) we decided to ride up some of the down trails. In spots this was OK and in other spots less so... we hiked up to Waterlew so that we could ride the 800m of boardwalk. Down Charlotte's Web which had a great first third but would chose a different bottom section next time. The bottom bits were not as exciting - a bit too straight made it a little boring.

Burns Lake - up the road and then down Pigasus. The road really isn't that bad of a spin up. Takes 40 minutes at easy pace and climbs 400m. Pigasus was another great trail. Long xc-ish descent with some climbs thrown in. It descends through a variety of different forest types. I like the aspen/poplar groves around here.

Burns Lake BC - got a tour today with Susan (Courtney's high school friend) and her partner (who owns the bike shop and has been instrumental in building the trails). It really is quite incredible what has been built here over the past ten years. A really cool vibe at the free campground at the bottom of the trails (everyone camping there was a cyclist - mostly from the communities around here).

The only thing missing is a climbing trail which I understand is next on the list. We started with a 40 minute up the road today - not bad for climbing and a quick 400m of vertical. We then descended on Razorback which is an long meandering xc trail back to the bottom. Very well built with nice bits of technical rock, nice views of the lakes, and nice forest. We skipped the very last bit to take an old school rooty trail back to the parking lot. Finished with a shuttle back to the top and a fast decscent on When Pigs Fly - a machine built Half Nelson style trail. Very fun.
