Hike 3:00:00 [2] 11.0 km (16:22 / km) +850m 11:48 / km

Very nice loop hike at Mt McRae south of town. Scrambled to the peak via the west ridge - a little bit of hands on rock hopping near the top - then traversed across to the north ridge and down to the lake. Had a nice dip in the lake which was quite refreshing. Very hot day!

West ridge

Summit cairn with Trout Lake in the background

Heading down the glacier.

Ice water bath - good for the joints:)

Lookg down to the lake

Bike 2:30:00 [2] 26.0 km (10.4 kph) +850m

Rare weekend ride at Frisby with Robb and Courtney. Lots more traffic then the previous two times but not too bad. Trail is drying out a bit too much. A little bit of moisture would be nice. Still sunny and dry weather so can't complain too much.

Views from the parking lot down to town and Arrow Lake

Trail then climbs through a cutblock with views across to Mt Revelstoke national Park

Then climbs for 4-5 km through a nice forest

The forest slowly opens up...

Before you pop out into the alpine

Run 1:40:00 [3] 14.0 km (7:09 / km) +715m 5:41 / km
shoes: NB 915

Had to clear some of the race course signs. Ran from Camozzi up Crowbar, then Faultline and across to Big Easy. Nice east pace.

Bike 50:00 [1] +250m

Easy ride after work showing Robb around some of the MacPherson trails.

Bike 1:08:00 [4] 18.0 km (15.9 kph) +650m

Last twoonie race of the season. Started with a ride up the road which was actually kind if fun in the peleton. Thought the pace was slow so took a little dig for fun. Couldn't keep up with brendan and Marty when they took off though. First singletrack section I was all over the place. Haven't ridden my hardtail in a while and it showed. Rode off the trail a few times and had a nice crash on one of them. Didn't help that my chain was skipping in all the gears I wanted to be in. Probably lost at least 30-60 seconds due to bike issues. I think my derailleur is bent. Was riding behind Don through Big Easy then put a good move on him back up the ski out. Thought I was in the clear but then three riders suddenly caught up with us on the road descent. A bit hairy racing four other riders down a dirt road with water bars on it. Jeff, Nash and Tim all passed us but we finished within 5 seconds of each other. Legs felt better on the climbs - 29er seemed faster. Was not as smooth on the singletrack as I could have been.

Hike 3:00:00 [2] 9.0 km (20:00 / km) +500m 15:39 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Raptor

Woke up early due to the usual broken sleep at altitude in a tent (and being on PST) and went for a nice wander around the lake. Then climbed up a little ridge above camp near the glacier. Awesome weather - the sky was clearer than yesterday. Saw a few helicopters buzzing around with sightseeing tourists however no hikers at the lake until we had almost made it back to the car.

Great weekend - much needed get away from phones and civilization.

Hike 3:00:00 [2] 10.0 km (18:00 / km) +850m 12:38 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Raptor

Weekend away with Pete, Caroline and the kids. Our original trip plan was Lake of the Hanging Glacier which unfortunately was thrown out the window due to a washed out bridge. Wasn't that keen on Silent Pass (in the Purcells SW of Golden) as an alternative at first but it grew on me and in retrospect was perfect. We had the lake to ourselves (which wouldn't have happened at some of our other alternatives in the national parks), views were spectacular and with no park regulations the dog could wander off leash. Even the 56 km drive from the hwy on logging roads was quite good. Only downside was the mosquitos which were pretty bad but everything can't be perfect.

Since the trail was only 5 km to the lake I went a bit luxurious with the packing and had a pretty heavy load to carry in. After setting up camp we wandered north of the lake and enjoyed views of the Spillimacheen Glacier and the Battle and Grand groups in the Selkirks. Lots of ice around us. Wildflowers were in full bloom too.

Bike 2:00:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @4) 26.0 km (13.0 kph) +850m

Solo ride up and down Frisby. Only took me 25 minutes to drive up there which was sweet. Steady pace on the way up. 29 minutes to the halfway rock and 1:05 to the top (on the Remedy). Only a couple snow patches left and the wildflowers were out. Rode from the top almost to the cutblock without seeing anyone which was sweet. Surprised that it took me a little over 30 minutes to make it down.

Iphone pics again... not bad but could be better.

Bike 1:10:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (40:00 @2) +475m

Riding the race course with Courtney. Starting to get dark when we finished but I was pretty happy with how light it stayed all in all given that we were on the sunny side of the valley - should be good for the race. Set up some of the signs.
