Pre-dinner jog as it got dark. Pretty sure now that a big part of my soreness is the 5 x 40m sprints that I did with no warm-up in a Friday PE class. The hamstring soreness I have now is very different to the usual aches and pains I get when I re-start running.
This evening's effort was probably half way between what I should have done and what I wanted to do.

Next step is to actually get out for some morning exercise.

Solo ride to Moonyoonooka, then across towards cHapman Valley, where I failed to realise which road I was on and rode the wrong way for about 5km.

That made the return slog into the breeze and over the Moresby Ranges a bit of a challenge. Got pretty hungry arounf 90 minutes.

Felt better than expected given what my legs felt like when I started.

I imagine that how I feel trying to get back into running as I age must be something like what people who have always been unfit feel like when they start trying to run. There is a lot more pain involved than there used to be, and consequently less enjoyment and feeling awesome.

Threw in a few half hearted surges towards the end just to try to force myself to run with a proper stride.

Definitely feeling stiff and sore from Tuesday night, and tired from editing reports after midnight last night.

Failed to launch in the morning, but resisted the urge to eat dinner and got out the door at about 7:30pm.
Felt a bit better than expected. My watch claims on the basis of this run, that I am at my fittest for the entire year. Given it was my first run in 6 weeks, I find that quite hard to believe.

If anyone knows any awesome English teachers that want to get out of the big city, let me know!
