Well. End result was more of the same. 2nd again, but again happy with the effort.

A few little bobbles near controls and one significant time loss (about 2 min) on #3. That one was annoying as I had a definite attackpoint, but then wasn't careful enough heading in, missed by not much, guessed wrong and started playing pinball for a bit before bailing out till i could see the fence corner and then went straight back to it.

I knew I had started conservatively, as I was worried about being able to finish the course off OK, but looking at the splits, it's a little alarming how far down I was at halfway. Then again, i won the second half of the course (12-finish) I think, so maybe it was the right way to go.

Given that I got less than 5 hours sleep last night and my stomach felt rubbish before I started (and the fact that I haven't trained properly for a long time) pretty happy with the weekend overall.

Finally got a long course victory over Craig after 16 years, but it feels pretty hollow :(

Early afternoon start = hot hot hot.

Minimal warm-up. Suffered badly towards the end of the course as I cooked again. Never felt in a good rhythm, and found it really phyiscally tough trying to get through lots of the fallen timber.

No big misses. Little bobble on #2 - about 30 seconds. Dropped off the rock surface and into the rubbish early on #13 but hit the control OK.

Got stuck in the thick crap just short of the last control and dropped 30 sec on Henry on that leg, but nobody else went quicker on that leg, so either I was running better than others or they all got stuck too.

Note

My everything hurts. A lot. Especially if I have to go down a step. More than one is out of the question.

Reassessment of plans for next year:
1. Perth marathon, not C2S
because C2S is too close to
2. running MM when fit and carving it up (and staying on the right course)
