All my fears for not wanting to do this as my last orienteering before state champs proved to be pretty well founded. Should have just taken a pencil to the start, drawn a course in and run it (certainly would have been much faster and more useful) but tried to get into the spirit of it.
Led a train of people astray as I made a meal of the first control and it didn't improve. Was so distracted trying to figure out which controls to go to and which to leave out, and then trying to remember how many I'd aldready been to that I rarely focussed on actually navigating to the control I was heading to. Ended up way wrong many times, and totally misread a lot of rock detail.
A good hard physical hit out, but did nothing other than reinfornce bad habits otherwise.
