Have had a think about when this bout of achilles pain actually started, and decided that in the short term at least there may be some merit in returning to wearing my orthotics at work. Can't do too much harm. Hae also found my highest heeled, most cushioned running shoes. No point experimenting with anything until I can get this settled down.
Have also decided to do more of my calf extensions with a more bent knee as this seems to accentuate the load where it is most needed, and am going to play with adding weights this afternoon.
New shoes look like staying new for quite a while yet :(
