Orienteering race 1:20:00 [4] *** 8.25 km (9:42 / km) +120m 9:02 / km
spiked:15/18c shoes: Merrel Moab Ventilator

TOC CHampionships. Start out well. Had a little trouble finding the pit at CP1 as the area was feature less. Ran trail to 2 and 3. Was having trouble reading the map in the low light in the woods with contacts in. No problem to 4 and through bullrushes to trail to 5. Road to 6 and up over Burhamthorpe Bridge to 7 and down and up ridges to 8. Across creek using log jam to 9 using old foundation as catching feature. Up hill and used clearing as reference to tower at 10. Through woods to park washroom to hit 11. I did no see the road on map in the dim light until on it. Started to rain heavier at this point. Ran trail to 12 and took the wrong trail to the control until I noticed a better choice when I came out of the bush and could see better. CP 12 was still trouble as the flag was deep in a pit over grown with brush. Decided to kitty corner through UTM to 13. However, the Argoes were practicing so I could not cross the first field. The second field was under construction and fenced so I ended up taking a longer route as map did not preclude my choice. Hit 13 and left just before another gentleman. Later heard he hit a wasps nest and got stung twice. Later people also had wasp trouble. Down steep hill to 14, over to 15 by the bridge and in the home stretch. This was longest requiring us to run around the toboggan hill to 16, side trail to 17 and to 18 on a river bed above the parking lot and home. It was raining hard by the finish and the map was showing signs of wear. Later racers had their map disintegrate from the rain. The paper was water proof but still the ink was lost with the heavy rain. See Route Choice!.
Overall a good race, 3rd in the Master Long Category. Not fast enough to finish higher. Thanks to Runit's Dad for setting a good course!!

Swimming 1:25:00 [3] 2.95 km (28:49 / km)

MTC Swim with Coach Stewart. Warm up 200 mixed, 4 x 500 kick, 200 pull, 6 x 50 built. Main Set - 8 x 50 fast, 8 x 50 descending 1 - 4, 6 x 100 fast, 6 x 50 descending 1-3. Cool Down 150 swim with fins.

Worked on technique trying to improve speed. Fast 50's - 0:48 to 0:50 Got to 0:45 on descending 50's. Trying to use my core more to swim as my arm path seems okay. Not sure on my feet but they seem too deep.

Cycling (Roads) 3:00:00 [4] 76.6 mi (2:21 / mi) +75m 2:21 / mi
shoes: Carnac TRS7

Longer ride on the old road bike. Raised aero pads, lowered bars. It felt good after initial adjustments. Wind was out of the northwest so it was slow heading towards Guelph but fast coming home. Noticed on the way home that the old seat feels better than my good seat. No ache after about 2:30 of riding. Legs, arms and back felt okay though I had little miles on the road of late. Played golf later in the day on an easy par 3 and everything was on.
