Adventure Racing race 9:57:00 [4] 60.0 mi (9:57 / mi)
shoes: Carnac TRS7

Silence Beckons Extreme Team,KS, RS & myself does Storm the Trent Elite Trek. Tough race as the mountain bike section turns out to be 78 km with many technical rocky sections and evn more giant water puddles.

RS runs the 4km+ 3 control section at the beginning to split teams apart. We paddle to the Warsaw Caves Conservation area and maximize our points in this score-A/R format. Once on the bikes, it is obvious we are going to be late but the are no obvious short cuts so we ride the entire bike sections but skipping all optional controls.

Great race for the team but the planners quite limited racers options!!

Orienteering 40:00 [1] 2.5 km (16:00 / km)
shoes: North Face Gore-Tex XCR

GHO AAA training. Did Coach Sudden's intermediate course in reverse. Moderate rain and really wet in the woods. Saw about 10 white tail deer and many geese. Coach Sudden had us following the line up ravines as part of the exercise. The first was steep with thorny rose bushes. The second was filled with fallen logs becoming an exercise in climbing.

Good training though the rain made climbing tough!

Orienteering race 25:00 [3] 2.0 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Adidas ADZ16

Sprint Race at Churchill Park in the rain. Chamged shoes to spikes after poor climbing during training. Started okay but made a mistake taking the trail instead of staying to the high ground. This meant I had an extra climb to the control. Fast trail run to CP 2 & 3, though the fallen logs made it difficult to reach 3. CP 4 was up a trail on the ravine far side. Decided to take trail to CP5 as I had run them earlier in the exercise, major error. The open field was shorter and an easy attack point to the control. The trial meandered and made locating difficult. I was looking for a pit on te inside of a trail corner but everthing seem off. many others were having the same problem. Finally, I went out to the field and took a trial towards the control. Discovers as others had that map was not accurate. The trail had been changed and was not visible to the point. I should have picked this up in the exercise but just blindly ran the trail. After 5, it was just a run across and down the field to hit the last controls.

Nice course inn that it taught that the map can changed. Should have picked up the problem in the exercise and used an attackpoint!

Cycling (Tri Bike) 37:00 [3] 13.8 km (2:41 / km)
ahr:115 max:132 slept:8.0 shoes: Carnac TRS7

Light ride on tri bike on Indian Line Trail to Mississauga Road and back. Felt great after slogging yesterday on mountain bike. Speed was slow as there was 5 - 4 way stops and 2 sets of light. Looks like a nice section to do training on at night though tarrific is high. Burn - 350 kcal.
