shoes: Salomon Speedcross

Very hot day on the north shore of Yellow Creek state park, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Two hour score course. Most of the course was in the shade, so didn't feel too bad. Got myself self-disqualified when at the finish, asked if one gets disqualified for crossing a tract of land that is marked as cultivated land. Answer: yes. Well, I suspected it but it was too obvious and tempting to shortcut from one end to the other. And from the stomped plants, there was a track left by someone else before me, so I wasn't alone. 50 cm high soy bean plants. Pretty tight towards the end. Knew I was really down to a few minutes, but a really really thick wall of most dark green stopped me and was crawling on my belly to go under some thorny plants, but then, at 3 minutes from end of time, realized that was ridiculous so backed out and returned to the regular trail, reached the last control and ran to the finish. The printed result paper sheet revealed I only had 3 seconds left. Good run. Hot, but good run.
