orienteer 54:34 [3] 3.6 km (15:09 / km) +79m 13:40 / km

Middle champs
I made a parallel error on 2, lost 5 min+ and then I was hesitant to 3 and second guessed myself for 2 min. But then I settled into the map, and walked slow and carefully and cleanly for the rest of the course. Really pushed the run in from the last control; will be interesting to compare my time to the F21s
Nice arena set up today
Temps were mid 60s
Rained in the morning but not during the race
Lots of deadfall in the woods
Lots of cross country ski trails on the map
Fun

orienteer 15:00 [1]

Took a slow and scenic drive across VT. Stopped at a "nature area" but it was a hunting area with a small park sign.

Got to the middle venue, and went for a short map hike on the middle model.

orienteer 1:30:00 [1]

Left Mike's brothers house this morning, after getting the kids on the bus. Went for hike with Mike at Moreau Lake Park near Glens Falls NY. Then dropped Mike at Albany airport for his flights home.

Trading designed by TGIF in Harriman. Corridor then control picking then contours only. Unfortunately I forgot to "save" my Garmin track before I started the next session. Really bummed not to have my track.

I walked and did only parts of the courses. It was super humid and there was plenty of crappy vegetation. I got hungry and tired and made mistakes. A tough day.

orienteer 50:01 [3] 2.41 km (20:46 / km) +62m 18:25 / km

Second training session was a course designed by V Campbell. I tried only a couple on controls. Found a few, which improved my mood from the morning. But then I couldn't find a few and bailed out to the trail back to the parking lot.

There were several other orienteers there in the parking lot at the same time as us. Seemed liked Canadians and Frenchmen.

Mountain Lakes Relay event with Mike. Heavy rain and dark woods made it hard to read the map. I made a few navigation mistakes, but the worst thing was a mis-punch. My controls were 100 through 110 EXCEPT 103 was 113. I totally missed that. 103 and 113 were close together, and I didn't notice what the description said. So mad at myself. Otherwise , it was quite a fun event.

orienteer 1:15:38 [3] 6.64 km (11:24 / km) +240m 9:39 / km

A decent run, until the second to last control. Tired body and tired body, and I forgot all my rules to stop and count to 10. Very frustrated with myself. Especially since I finished one second (over two day) behind Julie C.

I chose to take the slow trail route to 5. It seemed like a good idea t the time, but there were sections of trail that were hard to follow. Or climb (a rock slide at one point)

Pretty clean race, so I'm happy

Some confusion with all the rock walls on the way to 9
Ran too hard and too far down the hill on the way to 11
(foolishly pulled off by another person, who wasn't on my course)

Earlier, I had done a good job of stopping and counting to 10 whenever anything didn't make sense; or Mike passed me. Happy to have followed my plan.

But this was the best part of my day:
