orienteer race 1 [4]

Long champs at Chattahoocee Bend Park. This race didn't go as well as I hoped. The woods were filled with underbrush, vines and holes, so I never could get up to speed on the first loop. Need lots more practice at woods running. My navigation was Ok, though, till the spectator control.

Second half of the course was the reverse of the first. Flat woods allowed me to jog sometimes, but I made big navigation errors at 8 and 10. Lost lots of time but I was better at relocating (rather than wandering).

Finished second in F45 (congratulations Amgie!). Legs are tired now.

Sprint champs on Univ of West Georgia campus.

This went just as I had hoped. I concentrated on navigation and let the running take care of itself. Only a few tiny hesitations and the rest was clean. And I was under 30 minutes, which was my goal. Second in F45, although I may be first American.
