MTB with Carol from our house down the canyon trail all the way to Verdi. We've done sections of this before, but never all together.

All downhill to the car through the gnat swarms. They didn't bite, just flew around your face until you inhaled them, but even that didn't help because there were dozens more ready to take their place.

Some pretty giant waterfalls on this side. Both up and down followed sizable rivers, and the canyons were constantly steep so it was 10 miles of cascades with the occasional 100' gorge. It was really convenient for drinking water too, there was only about 2 miles that were dry on the whole hike, so I never carried more than a liter at a time, and usually none.
