And in the show-and-tell department of I-made-a-hardware:
TruckeeOC is getting SI stuff, so I spent a while looking around at all the options for how we want to run things, with software and hardware combinations, and they all suck. The pile of equipment (even the minimal, weak-by-Ed-standards, pile) you need just to code check somebody's si stick and print splits after a run is too much to bother for, especially if you only have a couple people there. Laptops are clunky, and the si printer station is weak sauce.
Thus a lot of googling, several hong kong chip orders later, and a bit of cursing at the soldering iron, I made a
bluetooth ios master station. It does everything your boring wired master station did, but from the phone. Also its a phone with internet, so it has built in live web results. And it plays sad trombone when you mispunch.
