LA Grand Tour Highland Double
Fail. or Strategic Retreat. Either way I bailed halfway through. Everything was going great for the first 50, I felt awesome and was riding great. Then at 60 my right knee started to hurt under the kneecap a little, right when pushing at the top of the stroke. I had the same hurt last weekend for a couple minutes, but it never got bad at all, so I figured it was just a random soreness that would go away in a few more miles. It never did, and got worse and worse. I went for a while using mostly my left leg for power, but eventually it got to the point where just the circling motion with the right leg was pretty excruciating, and when I got to the bottom of the 8 mile long climb at 100 (turns out it was exactly at 100, not that that was planned) it just wasn't going to happen, so I quit and waited for the minivan of shame back home.

I guess the good news is I had no stomach troubles and felt great, even though it was pretty hot, so the latest plan of plain water+salt pills seems be a good idea. Though that part doesn't usually start to fall apart until hour 8 or 9, so I can't be sure. And I did pull off a 5:48 century with 5000' of climb, the last 20 with one leg, so thats pretty good I suppose.

Iced it all the way home last night, and its not swollen at all and I can walk fine, but it has no power when its bent.

Wednesday night sprint at TD, set by Anna. Not feeling too great, and it was chilly outside. If last week was stupidly hot, this week is crazy cold - last night it was 25.

easy ride around Donner Lake. super gusty out. I think I might take a lazy week and call it tapering.

Rode the mtb over to TD to quickie-map the brush control clearing they did last fall. Heard them down the hill working on the new mtb trail too.
