Up around the side of prosser hill with carol.
My car is broken again, with the exact same issue as last weekend. Guess the expensive part they replaced wasn't actually the problem.

mtn bike 52:09 [2] 8.02 mi (9.2 mph) +96m

Down to the car shop, this time on the mt bike. Trail was still too snowy high up, but the bottom part of Alder Creek was clear and occasionally ridiculously flooded. This bike is also making awful noises, but I think its just dirty and out of tune. Its hard to tell under all the mud. Need to go ride in Prosser so I can dump it in the river.

The mapping accomplishment for the week is that ghettocad now directly loads ap gpx links, which makes mapping trails from training much easier. And SCH3 is free this week, so if you're too cheap to buy it now's your chance.

road bike 16:00 [2] 4.78 mi (17.9 mph) +38m

Car is still broken, so I rode the road bike down to the track to see how it was doing. Good news is about halfway down I figured out what the clicking noise is. Bad news is its because I broke the frame. Oops. I think its the same place I broke the original frame (a year or two after I got it), but then they replaced it with a whole new frame. I doubt they'll do that after a bonus 15 years. I suppose its time to finally get a custom frame that actually fits. Good thing I'm skipping bike season this year.

run intervals 1:04:32 intensity: (8 @1) + (1:53 @2) + (33:17 @3) + (28:56 @4) + (18 @5) 7.31 mi (8:50 / mi)
ahr:147 max:168

Intervals all by my lonesome self this week.
8x400, 400 rest: 94, 92, 93, 95, 93, 93, 93, 87
Carol showed up just as I was finishing (claiming something about "getting lost" in Truckee, on the one road), so then I did some bonus cool down laps.

Note

Broke the car, then walked back home from the shop in town. Had I planned it better it would have been good to bring a bike, but several sneaky shortcuts got it down to like 5 miles, most actually on trails.

Note

It appears ski season is probably over, except for maybe some high up crust skiing, but I'm not even too excited about that.

Skiing logged wasn't the best, somewhat less then half the last couple years:
2010: 218h, 2750km
2011: 252h, 3075km
2012: 122h, 1426km

But I made a world cup happen, which was actually the main goal of this season, even above racing. And it went well for the most part. The WCup racers liked it, we didn't burn anyone out, and we didn't piss off the locals too much. I learned a lot about the sport and the people that make it go, for good and bad.

We only had snow on the ground for about half the normal season, which explains the low numbers, and once we got snow I was on a plane or in europe racing the other WCups.

WRE points finished a bit lower than last year (583 vs 611), which is probably expected given that most of my on-snow training happened after sweden. But things came together by the end of the year and the Rim Tour was a pretty solid race, which I was happy about.

Next year I don't really want to be in europe as much, as its not really as rosy a training plan as everyone makes it seem, but it looks like two or three trips are probably inevitable.

But in the short term we'll play summer for a bit, with getting the Truckee Awesome Summer Series (TM) rolling and Jukola, and then breaking some rollerski tips. Also I think I'm skipping road bike double season this year, for no reason in particular.
