Easy course with the Canadians on some long/middle terrain. A couple controls were in the middle of where they were actively felling trees, including the huge work horse for pulling trees out of the woods.

Small group of training today, as 5/9ths of the the team spent the night puking their guts out from varying degrees of food poisoning. But its ok because it hit 7 of the swedes. Yay poland.

Anyway the four of us that were left went out on the backyard map to run some legs as a group, meeting up at each control to talk about the leg and to plan routes for the next one. Hotter today, and humid.

Slow training on some universal long/middle/relay terrain. Some big hillside legs, some detailed pits/minihills terrain, and then a couple more big hillsides. Shadowing people for most of it.

Relay training with the Canadians, on one of the relay relevant maps (which connects on the north side to where we were yesterday). Three short loops of 3-4 controls, tagging off in between loops with a partner. I forgot to start my watch on all three of the loops, though I did successfully hit the button after each one, saw it go, and tell myself I should remember to start it for the next one. Since they were short I was trying to do memory-o on each loop, the whole loop at a time, but that sortof failed pretty spectacularly. I found a couple though.

Then to the airport to pick up Carl, then to the beach (out on the long skinny bit NE of us) to play for the afternoon.

Found Zach at the airport, then afternoon training with everybody - a line-o on one of the relay training maps. map. I made the quickroute line really faint so you can see the line-o line too, but it starts in the bottom right and goes clockwise. Pretty good, less open than the backyard map but still very runnable. It did have a giant clearcut area towards the top that wasn't really on the map though.

Easy morning jog to hang some streamers in our backyard map (we live out by the northern P). Very nice morning, cool and breezy. There were a few mosquitos in the reentrants if you stopped moving, but up on top the breeze kept them away nicely.

Afternoon training. I didn't really do much except sit on a palette and wait for people to come back. But since we still didn't have real maps yet, they took the fuzzy one I had and drew their own on a blank sheet of paper (along with the streamers I hung this morning). Then ran the course (only like 1.5k or so) and got really lost, then came back and copied and ran it a second time, with different routes, to compare the differences between contouring and trails and ridgetops and whatnot. And also mad drawing skills.
