bc ski 1:00:00 [1] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: 10 rossi bc 70s

Easy bc tour with Jonathan (on snowshoes) up along the ridge line of TD in a couple inches of new fluff from last night, until he broke a strap on his binding, so he bailed back to the car and I skied down off the side and back home. Again proving that me and the NNN BCs have mad skills, as long as no one else is watching.

Chilly last night, it was -2 when I got up this morning. Well the first time anyway, -2 is reason enough to go back to bed. Also there are a disturbing number of icicles growing on the inside of my sliding deck door. Clear and sunny though, so by the time Jonathan and I got out at 11 it was up to 15 or so, and the snow was only a little bit squeaky.

fairly easy loop after lunch.

Note

for december: 591km / 53 hours of skiing. 10.3 hours / 112km / 131 controls of which was ski-o racing.

Early ski with Mom and Dad. Pretty chilly, about 10, but not too windy so it wasn't so bad except for the first part up on the mountain. Towards the end it started to warm up a little so the temperature was nice and the snow got better.

Then a lovely six hour rt drive in random heavy traffic to SMF and back, staring at the sun all the way down and headlights all the way back. My ears never popped the entire time I was down there, so I ended up with a huge headache by the time I got home.

classic ski 2:02:46 [2] 14.62 km (8:24 / km) +183m 7:54 / km
shoes: fischer classics

We got two feet of flurries last night, and everybody was still grooming this morning, so we went out on the classics, mostly at mom speed. Classic would be a whole lot more fun if it was easier. Also if the weather didn't suck every time I did it. Though I suppose the only time I classic is when the weather is too crappy to skate, so thats probably the cause of both. Today it was switching between heavy blowing snow and relatively nice almost clearness, though trending heavily towards the snowy part.

skate ski 1:34:40 [3] 13.82 km (6:51 / km) +256m 6:16 / km
shoes: 10 atomic red cheetahs

Dad and I went out after lunch for a skate, partly up the mountain and then a bit down in the valley, with more snow flying everywhere. It wasn't really accumulating, so the trails were still ok, it was just blowing and cold.

dp ski 2:21:06 [3] 28.95 km (4:52 / km) +571m 4:26 / km

dp of death loop, all by my lonesome self. Mom was tired after yesterday, and Dad had to go into town to see the eye doctor (or not see him, at least not clearly). Felt pretty good on the way up the mountain, even poled up the one super steep section that I've always had to skate so far. But the new snow made the tracks slow, so I started to wear out by the end of the loop around the valley.

skate ski 23:45 [3] 3.9 km (6:06 / km) +149m 5:07 / km
shoes: 10 atomic red cheetahs

Dad had the car, so I skied home, which unfortunately involves going up and over part of the mountain from the ski center. Whats that? How can I ski home unless they groom trails right to my front door? Oh thats right.

skate ski 1:38:09 [2] 10.34 km (9:30 / km) +150m 8:51 / km

It was a nice sunny day after snow the last few, so we went up to Royal Gorge, having forgotten the rule that Royal Gorge is only actually skiable no earlier than three days and no later than six days after the last snowfall. The trails are so great, but the grooming is always such crap. They'd hit about 30k of trails once with the groomer, so it was at least flat and packed, but still pretty soft. Mom rented skate skis, so her and Dad and I cruised around from the main lodge down around the lake and back, not doing too bad considering how little she skates.

Drove over to the Van Norden end of RG in the afternoon, which is all flat around the lake to give mom an easier time skating. I did some extra laps around, but not really too fast as the trails here were even softer than the morning.

Went down to Tahoe City to see if it was less snowy and windy, which it was, somewhat. Easy tour around with mom and dad, mostly at mom speed, though I did some doggie circles when I started to get cold. Headache was a little better today, though I've acquired a sweet hacking cough.
