Easy fast dp in the morning with Jonis. Much better grooming today, it was all solid and smooth.

Intermission in the middle of the dp to skate up the hill in Crabtree Canyon.

Jonis had to go home so I traded him for Jonathan, and we went out for some more. My arms were kindof sore by this point.

Skate hills with Jonis. Or maybe hill to be exact. He was all tired and out of shape, so I took the opportunity to beat him into the ground. Then some no pole around the valley and back up. Trails were borderline horrendous, some heavy wet new snow last night and this morning that didn't groom up so well. The only redeeming part is that Jonis's new exclamation for crappy grooming is "its like vermont" (aka last years middle champs).

Up at Auburn, doing the course from last year minus the stupid parts and the lower trail which hasn't been groomed yet. Lots of hesitation or places where I was reading the map instead of skiing as fast as I could, but only one big error where one of the lines went through another control, so I went to that one first, which wasn't the best route and added some bonus climb.

In proper Donner Pass fashion, as soon as I put the map holder on it started snowing really hard, but that died out halfway through and only left an inch or so on the trails. Its just barely cold enough for snow at home, down in town its actually raining. What is this crap? Good thing we have 10 feet of base.

It finally decided to warm up a little, I don't know how the rest of you can stand to ski in not-t-shirt weather. Still felt pretty trashed from yesterday, so I was planning on a nice easy skate, but the warm snow and not-warm wax weren't playing too well together, so it was frustratingly slow and more work than intended.

ahr:150 max:164 shoes: 10 atomic red cheetahs

chilly and cold this morning (no degrees), it took another fifteen minutes of idling to get the transmission out of park. snow was squeaky and slow, but it matched my joints so it was ok.
3 PM

skate ski 1:03:47 intensity: (7 @0) + (26 @1) + (9:29 @2) + (19:48 @3) + (33:57 @4) 13.6 km (4:41 / km) +377m 4:07 / km

It got all the way up to 20 degrees, so I went out for a quick loop up the mountain. Then the sun set and it went all insta-cold, just about the time I was ready to go down the hill with a soaking wet hat on. It made ice cream brain freezes seem fun.

Dev and Roommate went up downhilling, and Zan wanted to play the skate game, so we went next door to TD. Snow was that nice relaxing greasy packed new powder, so it was a good tour around, mostly dp.

Back out in the afternoon for some skate. The nice greasy packed powder wasn't quite solid enough to handle my biggnitude skating, so I ended up punching though a bit between the groomer tracks. But it was sunny and warm so it didn't really matter.
