mapping 1:00:00 [1]

a couple hours over at Northstar. seems they burned out most of the green. good for the running, bad for the remapping. also decided that the way ghettocad (and ocad) deals with vegetation and areas is stupid. I think I know how I'm gonna fix it, but it makes my brain hurt to even think about it.

dp roller ski 40:49 intensity: (1:01 @1) + (9:18 @2) + (29:13 @3) + (1:17 @4) 11.38 km (3:35 / km) +44m 3:31 / km
ahr:134 max:152 shoes: v2 aeros #2

east coast style: with one arm and lots of whining.

roller ski 39:49 intensity: (12 @1) + (4:41 @2) + (32:51 @3) + (2:05 @4) 11.29 km (3:32 / km) +36m 3:28 / km
ahr:139 max:153 shoes: v2 aeros #2

almost all no poles.

mapping 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

prosser. also jogging to set out controls.

orienteering race 16:21 intensity: (13 @0) + (7 @1) + (21 @2) + (5:55 @3) + (9:45 @4) *** 2.54 km (6:26 / km) +40m 5:58 / km
ahr:147 max:158 spiked:12/12c

thursday night sprint on ghettocad's finest. Donatas was 21:20, though I did have the possible advantages of making the map, setting the controls, and knowing about the [several] extra roads that aren't on the map yet.

orienteering 20:14 intensity: (1 @0) + (1:01 @2) + (11:27 @3) + (7:45 @4) *** 2.56 km (7:54 / km) +30m 7:28 / km
ahr:144 max:162 spiked:10/12c

picking up controls and wandering around a bit, because running through knee-high scrub is so much fun.

mtn bike 1:02:27 intensity: (2:43 @0) + (17:16 @1) + (21:36 @2) + (20:43 @3) + (9 @4) 8.59 mi (8.3 mph) +377m
ahr:120 max:148

Easy ride around TD. The shoulder woke me up early this morning aching like crazy, so it either didn't like all the aerobar time yesterday, or I was just sleeping funny. Felt ok on the mtb though.
6 PM

run 1:09:31 intensity: (50 @0) + (11 @1) + (35 @2) + (34:00 @3) + (33:55 @4) 7.43 mi (9:21 / mi) +168m 8:45 / mi
ahr:146 max:160

Through Prosser with Donatas. Slow, because I'm broken, and he hasn't done any training except drinking for the last six weeks. The wahmbulance was working overtime tonight.

road bike 3:45:57 intensity: (10:24 @0) + (20:25 @1) + (55:44 @2) + (1:38:11 @3) + (38:13 @4) + (3:00 @5) 60.65 mi (16.1 mph) +1147m
ahr:134 max:243

ride down around Donner Lake and through town, up over Brockway Summit, along the north side of Lake Tahoe for a while (got stopped in construction for a few minutes), back down along the river, and over and up through Alder Creek. Shoulder felt ok on the climbs, even standing, and I could even get down on the aerobars for a couple minutes at a time on the flats, which was a lifesaver in the wind coming back along the river.

orienteering 55:25 intensity: (26 @1) + (9:55 @2) + (21:48 @3) + (23:16 @4) *** 6.63 km (8:22 / km) +120m 7:40 / km
ahr:141 max:160 spiked:3/10c

In Tahoe City checking out the other end of the map, running the green long course from two years ago. This is definitely the nicer end of the place, the woods are awesomely fun even for a gimpy slow kid like me.

orienteering 56:20 intensity: (4:06 @1) + (15:19 @2) + (23:51 @3) + (13:04 @4) *** 5.58 km (10:06 / km) +99m 9:17 / km
ahr:135 max:163 spiked:6/10c

and then ran the green middle course from two years ago (which didn't feel any different from the long). Spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly where the controls would have been, since some of them were on rough open field corners, which are everywhere and sometimes not so clear. I don't think a bunch of them would have been very good control locations, since you'd see the control way before you figured out what a field looked like. Tripped early on and caught myself with the bad shoulder, which wasn't especially pleasant. Also skipped #5 because of giant-black-bear-in-the-circle type difficulties.
6 PM

orienteering 30:00 [1] ** 2.0 km (15:00 / km)

Stopped by Northstar on the way home to check out the map for the sprint. Its a non-sprint map, and usually the races are up on the mountain, but I think we got permission to run it through the condos down around the base. So I was checking things out to see if it was good terrain and if it was worthy of remapping all sprinty-like. Survey says: totally gonna remap it. This'll be sweet. Cause its not like I have a job or anything.

road bike 1:46:23 intensity: (8:13 @0) + (16:31 @1) + (24:41 @2) + (41:01 @3) + (10:59 @4) + (4:58 @5) 28.18 mi (15.9 mph) +546m
ahr:141 max:248

Down around Donner Lake, through town and out to the airport, then back up through Prosser and Alder Creek. Thunder clouds (wtf!) rolling through all day up from Reno, but I managed to avoid most of them through some creative route choice (the random out and back by the airport...). Ended up going through one of them (big hail!), but I was headed straight into it so it only took a couple minutes to get by.

The shoulder felt pretty sore all morning, not sure if it was from the run yesterday or from sitting up all night in a really awkward position watching WOC. Loosened up a little during the ride, and breathing was ok the whole time.
