run warm up/down 11:58 intensity: (51 @1) + (3:35 @2) + (6:16 @3) + (1:16 @4) 1.28 mi (9:19 / mi) +25m 8:47 / mi

run race 46:30 intensity: (8 @0) + (14 @1) + (19 @2) + (39 @3) + (18:42 @4) + (26:28 @5) 3.52 mi (13:13 / mi) +563m 8:49 / mi

Squaw Mountain Run. Up the access road for the main gondola at Squaw. Shoulder felt ok for the most part, it started to tighten up towards the top, which made breathing tough, but not too bad. Also the profile on the website shows it as three miles of uphill followed by a half mile of gradual downhill. Turns out its actually three miles of uphill followed by a half mile of uphill.
Finished 100th out of 500-some, which is ok I guess. I was a couple minutes behind the people I normally finish with at stupid things like this, so I guess I was a little slower than normal. Good warmup for Baldy next month anyway.

run warm up/down 12:33 intensity: (1:20 @2) + (10:05 @3) + (1:08 @4) 0.93 mi (13:30 / mi) +29m 12:18 / mi
ahr:138 max:149

easy cooldown around the top of the lift area. basically killing time while they figured out how to tap the kegs. silly unprepared race directors.
6 PM

mtn bike 54:51 intensity: (40 @0) + (15:03 @1) + (21:07 @2) + (18:01 @3) 7.14 mi (7.8 mph) +273m
ahr:121 max:145

Got home and took some serious nap time for most of the afternoon, then got up and fixed up the mt bike. A couple spokes came off, and the front brake hydrolics locked up, but google said to just wedge a cone wrench in there for a while and it loosened up eventually. Then went for an easy ride to see if it all still worked, which it looks like everything does (me included).

windy and cold. still holding back on the downs, but the ups actually felt half ok. got some new trail shoes, since there wasn't much left of the old ones after Canada, and they're terrible. they've got hard rubber spots on the edge of the soles with 1/4" holes through them so the water drains out to save you from blisters, which would be great except for the part where the hard rubber digs into your feet and gives you blisters. I did run through a creek on the way home just to test them out though, and once they're full they squirt water sideways in little jets for the next dozen steps, which is fun and makes a neat sound, but thats about the limit of its usefulness.

road bike 1:12:16 intensity: (51 @0) + (2:26 @1) + (12:44 @2) + (36:13 @3) + (19:16 @4) + (46 @5) 21.7 mi (18.0 mph) +95m

Sitting in a bike position has actually never hurt much this whole week, I guess because when I hit the ground the arm was already tucked in (and upside down) so I didn't jam the pushing muscles, just the pulling ones. But that means I can't stand out of the saddle, so I'd never make it back up the mt to get home, so I drove down to the lake and did a couple laps from there. Hit a pothole hard on the last one and breathing started to hurt again, so I stopped there.

Went down to Tahoe City to sort out the logistics for the Sept meet with Rosemary, then afterwards reran a part of the course from last time. The shoulder definitely wasn't ready for offtrail stuff, so I ended up walking most of it.

Spent most of the day fighting with apple trying to get my security certificates renewed, so i can give out ghettocad to the unsuspecting iGuineapigs. I think I won, although I did blow a whole day doing it. The good news is typing doesn't hurt anymore, which is a good thing considering this newfangled "work" idea.

Also it's friggin cold. Frost last night. wtf august?

all better. well maybe not, parts of this hurt a lot and I had to walk about half of it. but still doing leaps and bounds better than yesterday. good to know that when the body finally gets around to healing, I still fix fast.
