(injured)

Much better today. I managed to drive to town, and fold a whole load of laundry. Both of which took much longer than they probably should have. Maybe I'll get outside for real tomorrow, which would be good because I'm kinda going stir crazy in here.

So I think the shoulder has at least stopped getting worse, which is a good thing. I could sort of walk around today. Maybe I'll get to sleep tonight.

Got the new mountain bike this afternoon. Took it up around the ski trails in TD to try it out. Half double track, half smooth single track. Much fun.

mtn bike 1:13:14 intensity: (9:38 @0) + (14:08 @1) + (25:29 @2) + (23:59 @3) 11.39 mi (9.3 mph) +296m

Then Donatas called to see if I wanted to go ride Prosser. How could I turn that down? While I was gone he found a sneaky trail from his house into the main trail system, so we took that out and the up the singletrack for a while. Unfortunately right off the start it crossed a creek on a long single log bridge, maybe 8' long by 1' or so wide, which he didn't bother to tell me about. I made it across on the way out, but had forgotten about it on the way back, hit it at a bad angle, and only made it halfway across before I nose dived a couple feet down into the creek. Over the handlebars and rolled, but hit the top of my right shoulder really hard on the way over. I could move it all around right after it happened, so nothing broken and nothing torn, just some muscles in a world of hurt and a wicked bruise. By now its swelling to something impressive. We'll see how it survives the night.

But at least the new bike is ok (whew), only popped a couple spokes on the front wheel. Also I apparently can't twirl spaghetti with my left hand at all.

Out between the reservoirs at Boca. I got a longer bolt and a locknut for the twice missing bolt, and it seemed to hold up just fine. Except that I also vibrated out another two of the old ones. I guess its locknuts all around. To be fair this road is probably too rough for these skis anyway, I seem to remember it being a lot more pleasant last fall on the Aeros. Gave up this time after one lap because I couldn't handle the clattering.

down at Prosser. The usgs aerials for around here just got updated in the last couple weeks, and they look a whole lot better than the old ones.

Note

the rest of the pictures from the last month:

rest day in Banff. Lake Louise, Moraine Lake.

races in Kamloops for Sage. The view from the start, which turned out to be nothing like the rest of the map.

"rest day" climb of Mt Rohr, halfway between Kamloops and Whistler.

sprint in downtown Whistler.

middle and relay for Barebones. and the peak-2-peak gondola at whistler.

vancouver island. the signs would be way more awesome if they put the guy from this one into this one. which is going into the game.

Mt MacFarlane near Chilliwack, BC. I bailed here since I didn't bring the toys to go up that snow chute.

Mt Adams in WA. St Helens, Rainier, and Hood / Jefferson / Three Finger Jack / Three Sisters?. also lots of people playing in the wind at Hood River on the way out.

Mt McLoughlin. yea I only took four pictures the whole day, and the fourth was the same as this one (Shasta).
