AB day 1 blue. A fairly awesome disaster. I wasn't really thinking too much, so I kept wandering off my bearings, which given the super steep canyons made things much harder than they needed to be. Also a few controls not quite in the right spot helped. Ran into Boris a few times in the beginning, then got passed by the swiss gravy train, but they all seemed to know where they were going.

orienteering intervals 4:00 [4] 0.7 km (5:43 / km)

String-O sportident championships. We set up a 175m string-o course with 20 sportident punches, lots of turns, lots of cactus, all conveniently starting from the back of our cars, and then suckered everybody else into sprinting around it for money (for the sr team). Daniel Hubmann won with his best of 49s, Marc was 54, and Eric Bone had a 58. There were a couple others in there too. I think mine went 60, 59, 62, and 59. Much fun. Mad punching skills.
5 PM

run 30:00 [1] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

easy control pickup with Boris. good thing it was easy because we didn't get the pickup map until 30 mins before sunset.

Drove down to Anza Borrego for the weekend to get my desert on. Ran the model event with Boris just before it got dark.

Spent most of the 12 hours driving down friday morning scanning the side of the road for junk tires I could use for ski trail grooming. First one still had the hub attached, second one was about 6' in diameter, but hit the jackpot on the third one somewhere in the desert around Victorville. A lovely unattached trailer tire, without too many things living in it.

Blue sky, but still humid, so it was damp and cold. The valley had about 20ft of really thick fog in the bottom of it, which was pretty cool because the trail kept climbing in and out of it along the way.

night ski at TD. a few more inches of snow last night, but colder today so no rain. still snowing a little, and I was freezing the whole time for some reason. the snow was just starting to freeze up and get fast towards the end, not that I got to enjoy it for too long, because...
Greg: 2, Rossi: 0.
or maybe its the other way around. wtf. at least they're different feet, so between the 4 boots I still have a complete pair.

skate ski 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

miserable ski around TD. forgot the watch, not that there was much to record. we got a couple inches of wet snow last night, and its been raining all day. It wasn't raining too hard while I was out, but there was still running water inside the classic tracks...

Also spent last night listening to all the snow on the roof soak up water and slide off, except for the parts that weren't snow anymore and had already turned into thick blocks of ice. When those hit the deck it sounds like the house is exploding. Spent a while with a pickaxe chopping up the desk-sized chunks on the driveway so I could get the car out of the garage.

epic trail mapping down at Tahoe XC. mostly going around in circles trying to gps all the big trails, then wandering around the woods finding good spots for dashed trails. I think I got about half of the potential dashed trail area figured out, there's another big section of nice open woods that needs trails. this is gonna be sweet.

Didn't feel like driving down to the race in mammoth (I know, I've gone soft now that I have skiing 2 miles away), so I went and chased Donatas around TD. That kid is fast! Rain yesterday afternoon made for some nice icy trails, but it was clear and sunny so it warmed up pretty quick.
