road bike 6:41:00 [3] 116.5 mi (17.4 mph)

I woke up this morning with a headache, but I couldn't decide if it was "worked too much this week" headache or a "getting sick" headache. So I went out anyway, and I guess if I'm getting sick this probably helped it along.

Ride felt good though. Its amazing what the difference always is between the first one of these and the second. Roughly the same route as last weekend, with some different roads and a bonus loop through the strawberry fields out in Camarillo. Legs felt awesome for the first 70, then I got into the fields and was fighting a headwind for 10 miles on bumpy road, which was just tough. Then turned south and road the easy tailwind home. Started really dragging a bit right at the end, but rather than stop I was in that mindset of "I'm almost home so if I just keep going I can pass out there." Got home and proceeded to eat everything in the kitchen, then passed out.

road bike 5:44:00 [3] 100.2 mi (17.5 mph)

loop around the santa monicas mts. up over sepulveda pass, out west through the valley, quick loop through the farms by camarillo, then back along the ocean. bonked pretty good at around 95 miles (the 3 mile hill back up from the beach), but I think thats actually a bit further than previous years first century of the season, so not all bad. the clif bars just weren't doing it for me today, maybe I need to try straight cheeseburgers...
