skate ski 2:30:00 [3] 26.0 km (5:46 / km)

Beaver Creek nordic, up the chairlift to the top of the mountain. met up with Amy Fuller and we skied most of it with her. it was cool because of the views and because it was really warm and sunny. not so impressed by their trail layout or thier grooming skillz, or by the snowmobiles that shredded the trails.

skate ski 12:50 [3] 4.8 km (2:40 / km)

I suppose most of the xc skiers go back down the chairlift, but dad and I came down one of the green downhill trails. somewhat exciting, if a little shaky on the snowmobile ruts. could probably have been a bit faster, but we were trying not to destroy the bases on the skis.

Note

260k in a week. about what we were planning, and not bad considering it was the first snow skiing of the year (dad doesn't think this roller stuff counts...) and most of it was at 10,000+ ft. I wish I could say the air back here in low altitude LA feels thick with oxygen, but I'm pretty sure thats not oxygen I'm tasting...

awesome pictures (and movies) coming soon.

skate ski 3:30:00 [3] 48.0 km (4:23 / km)

back at piney creek. warmer today - temps in the teens, so the snow was fast in the sun. a little windy and drifting snow in places, but all together a pretty good [long] day. we were literally the only people skiing today. includes a fantastic 5k downhill at the end where dad drove around and picked me up at the bottom.

skate ski 3:00:00 [3] 25.0 km (7:12 / km)

at Breckinridge nordic. a pretty crap day. snow was pretty slow and not groomed very well (soft and tilted to the side), so it was more frustrating than anything.

Wednesday Dec 7, 2005 #

skate ski 3:30:00 [3] 40.0 km (5:15 / km)

at frisco nordic. wicked cold. I think it eventually got up to zero F. if you stood by the exhaust pipe.
