skate ski race 3:34:30 [4] 50.25 km (4:16 / km)

Birkie. got to start in the back since I had no qualifying time, so I was dodging slow people for the first 20k. took a glorious fall on a steep hill at 15k, hit my knee on the ice hard, lost my glasses and packed one ear with snow. knee worked itself out after a few km, and the ear was just cold. I bonked around 40k, but managed to recover a bit with liberal application of powergel and bananas at the next water stop. still lost 8 minutes to dad on the last 10k, but fortunately I was already 14 ahead at that point.

Note

back was a little sore today. actually it felt ok and then I sneezed and pulled it again. but it was pouring so I used it as an excuse for another rest day.

also in between mopping up the water in my living room and mopping up the water in my bedroom I managed to finish the latest CF patch, which is totally sweet. let the madness begin.

skate ski 1:35:00 [3] 17.8 km (5:20 / km)

at rim nordic (next to green valley from last weekend, same guys, just not connected). they had a couple trails of out-and-back groomed for 9k, two laps of that. very wet, but that was ok since it helped to pack down the trails. solid enough to almost skate all day.

skate ski 1:40:00 [3] 17.8 km (5:37 / km)

another two loops after 'lunch' (a couple granola bars found in the car). I was expecting the snow to be crap and that I'd be heading home by lunchtime.

oh yea saw a mudslide on the drive back, just a little one, but big enough that it probably would have messed up a car. it didn't get to the road, but trashed one of those turnouts on the side of the road where some people were taking off their chains. seemed to miss everybody though.
