Orienteering race (NSW Sprint race 1) 18:00 [5] *** 3.23 km (5:34 / km) +11m 5:29 / km
spiked:17/19c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

NSW Sprint Champs race 1 at Garrison Point. Very open and fast with only moderate level navigation. Small overrun on 6 but otherwise good. Pleased with pace especially after running a half mara last weekend and happy with 1st place (maybe courtesy of Bjorn's MP). Running the same course as Briohny all weekend and had a rare victory this morning, by about 1.5 minutes.

Orienteering race (NSW Sprint race 2) 18:42 [5] *** 3.43 km (5:27 / km) +29m 5:14 / km
spiked:17/19c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 17 green

Race 2 of Sprint Champs at Western Sydney Uni Bankstown. Much more technical course here with a number of longer legs offering route choice as well as lots of short legs. A couple of times couldn't read fine map detail well enough to know if route options were legal so opted for safety. Only one error towards the end when ran to the wrong building, loosing maybe 20secs. 2nd place behind Bjorn this time but overall win. Briohny evened up the weekend score with a comfortable win.

Short afternoon run in Temora, just to get the legs going again. Don't think I've ever run here before although it's been quite a few years since I last stayed here.

Running race (Long with hills) 1:55:03 [5] 21.07 km (5:28 / km) +211m 5:12 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Kazan trail

Wagga Trail half marathon. As usual, started a bit fast with the large group but soon settled into a steady pace. Felt quite strong on the climbs today which was pleasing and always enjoy the single track through Pommy. Found the new shoes really good and "grippy" in the wet and muddy sections but a bit hard on the feet (even with cushion inner soles) on the harder surfaces, especially the bitumen section along Moorong Street. Very happy with my time, a couple of minutes quicker than last run 2 years ago.

Very proud of Briohny's effort in the marathon, her first go at this one, and only her second ever. She finished ahead of a few other very experienced locals. Couldn't quite match Shannon Jones' outstanding effort of 2nd place in the women's field!
